Why do you live in Louisiana?

I can understand being born and growing up there and family being around. But what a hassle you people have to deal with seemingly all the time regarding Hurricanes. Have any of you or your family left the state because of weather? What else keeps you there? As an outsider, I could never even imagine myself wanting to move there and put up with that mess. Hope everyone is safe, and y'all are in my thoughts. Oh...and to cheer you up, There is Football on tomorrow night Hope you have power and cable and are able to watch it!

Extra vacation day(s). I'm in my element in this kind of weather. Not even a hassle at all.

Because the other 364 days of the year are filled with awesome.

If you're not on the coast it's not bad. We didn't do anything to prepare other than picking up stuff in the yard and tying a couple things down. About 30 miles from the gulf

Because it's not Georgia.

I love Louisiana for many reasons. My family is here, our friends, love the area and culture of south la. I fish quite a bit and it can't be beat for that.
Seemingly all the time

The choice was between living in La. vs. living in Georgia and we got to choose first.....

Extreme weather/natural disasters are a problem no matter where you go. Hurricanes hit Georgia as well, don't they?
Midwest - droughts, tornadoes
Western States - earthquakes, droughts
North - blizzards
Etc.
You can't escape the weather.
I lived in New Iberia (south LA) for 18 years. It is not nearly as bad of an issue as the media makes it out to be.

might as well ask why is a tree good? Why is the sunset good? Why are boobs good?

it's not a hassle. Hurricanes are less frequent than tornado's and that doesn't stop people from living in the midwest prairies. shite I live in Lafayette, and the last hurricane I actually had affect me was back in 2007.
Severe weather and the unknown is actually kinda fun.

pretty sensitive group over here. I was asking a serious question. After Katrina, Georgia actually saw a lot of migration to my shithole state from Louisiana.

Because I can strike up conversations with random people, no matter where I am and who they are. You dont realize how used you get to just making small talk in line at the grocery store until you go somewhere else.
Because some people party, we make a holiday out of it.
Because we have the best food in the country.
Its the little things like that.

Born and raised and family still in Nola. We want to move but my wife and I have good jobs and a child and lots of student loan debt so we can't just leave bc there's a storm in the gulf.
