I'm on Book Four now. I predicted the wedding about 200 pages before it happened, so my reaction to that was just "get on with it".

But the King's Landing stuff... all a big curveball.

There's no mention of characters or what happens. Something does happen in the book -- that's not a spoiler. And, like I said, I think it's an event clearly telegraphed for 200 pages. It wasn't surprising at all.

Its not a direct spoiler but it makes it an easy guess...

I've probably got 200 pages left of AFFC and I have been pleasantly suprised. A lot on this board and elsewhere trash it, but its solid work. There isn't quit as much action as SOS, but its solid work. Got Dance on order, should be here by Friday or Monday.

While I am readying these books I can't imagine how someone can create a universe like this in their head, much less put it on paper.

After watching people who haven't read the books absolutely lose their shite over any mention of anything in the TV show threads, it's probably just for the best.

There is a set of novellas that accompany the ASOIAF series called Dunk and Egg that has some info in them that supplement and shed light on some theories and characters in the books (they're part of a series with other non-ASOIAF short stories, but are supposed to be published as a stand alone collection later).

If any of you guys would like the ePub files of them I have them. You can just drop your email here and I'll forward them to you.

AFFC is a great book... it was just a let down for the people who waited so long for it after the high expectations that SOS left them. Your second read through of Feast after you've read all the theories surrounding this series will blow your mind.

I really do highly recommend reading every single post in the Crackpot ASOIAF thread after you're done with the series. I'm not just saying that because I started the thread but because there are some highly thought out and extremely well developed theories in there that will blow your god damned mind.

I don't think it necessarily gets trashed. A lot of people regard it as a really good book, just not as good as the others in the series (as Cotton said, it's a stark change of pace from ASoS and suffers a little bit because of it).

I read A Feast For Crows about five years ago. I'm going to need to read a good summary before I tackle the fifth book. There's so much going on I've probably forgotten a lot and I hate that.

I'm about at the same point. My problem with it is that unlike the other books, it goes very long stretches without a chapter on main characters. Feels like forever since I've read about Jon Snow. And Dany. They have been mentioned or alluded to in other chapters, but it feels like too many new characters have been introduced and out of the blue you'll have a chapter on them.

Thats because they're not in the book. You'll have to wait until A dance with dragons to advance their story.

AFFC and ADWD are basically the same book split geographically as opposed to chronologically. They occur in the same space of time.
