Loras volunteered to take on Dragonstone because he needed the fleet back at the Shield Islands ASAP to take on the frickface Greyjoys.
It's could still go down like that.

btw, what is the board's concensus opinion on Loras' current state of health/location/future? Ive read the last 100 pages or so, dont recall a discussion.
