Has anyone else thought that The Rains of Castamere may be GRRM's greatest bit of irony yet? I could very realistically see House Lannister being extinct at the end.

There are some pretty distant cousins that bear the name though. I don't think he'll kill them all off.

I actually liked someone's crackpot about Tyrion and Sansa ending up together.
It was something like LF has Tyrion trapped in the crypts at WF and goes Bond villian and tells Tyrion how it was him that set this all in motion and Sansa overhears him and saves Tyrion by killing LF at the foot of Ned's tomb.
I would happy cry while fapping to that
I think it would be kind of a beautiful ending for both if Sansa matured into a woman that could understand how kind Tyrion tried to be to her and Tyrion felt rewarded for being the great man he is.
Their chapters in SOS were some of the most heartbreaking in the entire series imo because they could have done great things together if Sansa would have just opened her eyes and Tyrion just told her the things he was thinking about how the things his family did to hers disgusted him.

It would definitely bring Sansa's story full-circle and show how she matured from a child in love with knights and songs to a fierce Northern woman. Sansa is definitely heading back to Winterfell in the next book IMO.
Also, I think Sansa and Jon will interact face to face at some point, and it will be interesting to see. Sansa playing a bastard all this time will have opened up her eyes a lot.

maybe in a cliche fantasy universe. no way martin does that

I believe that Sansa and Tyrion end up together, Martin has already provided quite a bit of foreshadowing to that end. How it comes about, I have no idea. How about this:
LF continues along with his plans to marry Sansa to Harry the Heir on the assumption that it's free and clear because Tyrion is dead. Then, just before the date of the wedding, Tyrion returns to Westeros with Dany adding enough of a complication to stall the wedding and his plans go to shite from there.
Again, I have no idea how it happens, I just think that Tyrion and Sansa end up remaining married and that it eventually becomes something real and not forced. And this time she kneels down for him to place his cloak around her.

Yeah I don't see it going that way but i do see them ending up together. That was just the crackpot that brought it up first, although I would still happy cry fap to it

Even you would have to admit that would be great. Littlefinger certainly likes to gloat, and he always enters the villain monologue whenever he overcomes one of his great rivals.

Yeah, the last Sansa chapter in ASoS had such a great ending. Can't wait to see LF say "Only Cat" and shove Lysa out the Moon Door in the show . Should be interesting to see Sansa's story in the next book.

In regards to Aegon in TWoW:
IMO Cersei will die not long after Aegon takes KL. Would be fun to see her in her delusion to not have Maggie's prophecy come fully true.

Would still technically come true because if you believe Aegon is a Targ, than he is a "Valonquar" or little brother. So the prophecy would come true as long as Tommen and Mercylla die before Cersei bites it.

It would be fun to see her reaction when/if Tyrion isn't the valonquar to kill her. A lot of fans speculate it'll be Jaime, which would be awesome.

I've always interpreted shroud as a burial shroud as probably most also have, though it could also be refering to something to hide behind. I believe the prophecy said "gold will be their crowns and gold will be their shrouds". Gold shroud could refer to hiding behind the wealth and power of the Lannisters or gold is also a Baratheon color. Not saying that these two won't die also since Cersei's children are pretty much her world and the prophecy ends with "...when all your tears have drowned you....", but just another way to look at it that them dying isn't necessarily a guarantee or part of the prophecy.

That's pretty interesting. Never thought of it like that. Still seemed a little straight forward but with everything with ASOIAF everything is up for interpretation.

I think Cersei lives until the very end.

I'd say out of all the POV characters, I think Cersei is the least likely of them all to make it to the end.

I think she has kind of been the main villain since the beginning...I just can't see her being killed off quickly like I see for Roose, Walder Frey, Ramsay, etc.

I'd say Littlefinger is the main villain of the story (aside from the Others). He's the one who has set every single event in the series into motion. I actually suspect that he's also partially responsible for Robert's Rebellion and burnt the letter Lyanna sent to Brandon telling him what really happened.
Littlefinger killed Jon Arryn, lured Ned down to King's Landing, sent Catelyn to kill Tyrion and this starting the war between the Starks/Tullys and the Lannisters, betrays and has Joffrey kill Ned, kills Joffrey and blames it on Tyrion, and kills Lysa.
He himself is responsible for all this (plus more), and he is thus the main person that has to be taken down if Westeros is to have peace. Cersei is just as big if a victim of Littlefinger as all our other characters are. It's why I find it so ridiculous when people think that Littlefinger is going to be defeated by basically nameless Lords of the Vale that over half the readers couldn't name. It's the same way you feel about Cersei and it would be a shame if Littlefinger didn't go down on the cusp of his greatest triumph. Littlefinger is the highborn system's greatest enemy, and therefore to most of our protagonists.
