I would love it if Randyll was killed by Sam somehow. As long as Randyll Tarly meets a horrible death I'll be happy though, hate that guy.

Pissed me off beyond belief.

I don't really blame him for the Sam thing. Face it, Sam is a craven little pussy. Lord Randyll tried for years to turn it around to no effect. If Sam had taken over as Lord, House Tarly would be doomed.
I can only hate on Randyll for not allowing Sam to go to the Citadel.

Yeah, there was no other option for Sam. House Tarly would have been gobbled up by some abitious house like the Florents had Sam been Lord.

Killed by Sam? I doubt it. I think someone already threw out the idea where Sam is put in the position where he can choose to save him or not. Either he does and is redeemed in his fathers eyes or walks away.

Who says they won't? I've always seen Randyll as the Roose of the south.
Great call.

The epilogue of ADWD where he makes it a point to downplay Aegon/Connington always stuck out to me. Remember, the only commander to win a battle for Aerys during the rebellion was Randyll. The Golden Company made mention of friends in the Reach and he may be the one.

Wouldn't it be some crazy shite to have Randyll turn cloak and smash the Tyrells under the walls of Storm's End? Think about the Arianne sample chapter where she's told the taking of SE was extremely bloody. That gives us the image of Aegon & Jon Connington storming the walls...but maybe that's the wrong picture.
Instead of 10,000 GC soldiers going up against Stannis' 200-300, you have 10s of thousands of Reach soldiers killing each other in a bloody mess.

I've had the feeling for a while that Tarly has been plotting against the Tyrells. I'm sure Randyl absolutely despises being the underlord to Mace Tyrell of all lords. He's definitely looking to jump him.

Mace is pretty much a fat idiot and Tarly is the best general in the realm. It is only a matter of time, really.
Kind of like Roose's cunning and ability to manuever things vs. Robb shitting his pants off the battlefield.
eta: Another HUGE plot point...word will have gotten out about Ser Kevan's death so what fear of the Lannisters would Randyll have? He'll cast in with the "Targaryen" prince hoping he can win him back his crown.

You could look at it another way with regard to Kevan's death. The Tyrell's control the small council & Mace could move up to Regent & Tarly to Hand.

eh, I just don't see Tarly staying on the leash much longer.

It increases the Tyrell's power though, not Tarly's.

If this comes to pass, that leaves:
1) The men of the Vale
2) The Men of Dorne
3) Aegon's host (Gold Co., Tarly, Connington, etc...)
4) Danny's host (when she crosses the sea)
5) Members of the Great Northern Conspiracy (if this is true)
Throw in the Measters Guild, Faceless Men, Others/White Walkers, Red God, Old Gods, Bloodraven, Children of the Forest, Faith Militant and I think there is still plenty of chaos that needs sorting out.
Two more books might not be sufficient.
No way it all gets wrapped up in two books...

At the end of WoW I expect the following factions:
1) Aegon- King on the Iron Throne; The Golden Company, Dorne, the Reach, the Stormlands, and Crownlands
2) Sansa- The Queen of the North; The Vale, Riverlands, and the North (fractured)
3) Dany- The Mother of Dragons; The Second Sons, the Unsullied, the Iron Fleet, and former slaves
4) Jon- Protector of the Realm; Night's Watch, Wildings, House Baratheon, House Mormont, House Karstark, House Manderly
5) Euron Greyjoy
6) The Others
7) The Westerlands- Basically leaderless and looking entirely screwed
