My experience consists of the Daisy pumper I harassed barn cats with as a kid. I'm told the high end ones now rival .22's.

Gamo whisper is the one I really want

I have a remington 1200 advantage. It is a sweet little gun that has the muzzle velocity of a 22 but the range isn't even close. Great gun for squirrels and small game but I have found that between 30 and 40 yards is it's effective range.

The Gamo's are freakin awesome. They work great for squirrels.

High powered spring piston airguns are loud, difficult to cock and load and have an unpleasant recoil. I prefer shooting a regular .22 with subsonic ammo.
ps: they are also heavy. my RWS model 52 .177 rated at 1200 fps easily weighs 8 lbs and is the heaviest gun I own

I'm gonna slightly hijack this and ask which one of you boys has an opinion on which pellet rifle is the quietest? My wife frowns on the neighbors hearing me shoot their pets.

The nitrogen piston rifles are said to be 70% quieter than spring piston rifles.
I don't have one but really want one.
