Definitely gonna hit up in and out while I'm there.

What part of Dallas?

Peggy Sues Barbecue in Snider Plaza by SMU and Baby Back Shack on South Akard just south of downtown Dallas. Although Dallas isnt known for its Barbecue. Steak at Papas Bros or Al Biernet's. Texmex- The Brisket tacos at Mia's on Lemmon avenue (not Mi Coccinas). For something more ethnic, which is my preference, Samar in Downtown Dallas is Indian/Spanish/ Middle eastern and is a Stephan Pyle's place. Sushi- Tei Tei or Teppo- Asian: Tei-Ans Burger-Angry Dog in Deep Ellum.

If you're in Ft Worth I know a couple of good texmex places but others probably know more than I. If you're in the burbs, My condolences.

Prepare to be underwhelmed by In-N-Out. It's good for the price. Go to Angry Dog or The Porch for a real burger.

BBQ is lacking in DFW and Houston. I think there's a Cooper's BBQ now in Ft. Worth .. central Texas style.

Pappa's Bros. is solid for steaks as is Al Biernet's and Nick & Sam's. Bob's (chain) has a lot of locations and some folks really like it.

Tex-Mex is ubiquitous, like in Houston. Just yelp some spots in your area and take your pick from reviews. Javier's is a good, closer to "real" Mexican place in uptown.

It's a bit of a drive, but Hard Eight is very worth it for BBQ...but really is smoked.

And there's the Mexican place in Dallas that's really famous and huge, I just don't remember the name.

Babe's Chicken Dinner in Garland is pretty good. I would recommend it over the other ones in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area.

Definitely would not recommend the ice house for food but their atmosphere is great for drinks in the evening when it isn't too crowded.
