Finally reached season 6 of Supernatural (spoilers)

And from the get go, I'm already troubled. I get there would have to be a change in dynamics with Dean becoming a family man and Sam going to hell and returning, and I'm not one of those people who will insist that everything needs to stay the way it is. I can welcome change if it's done right. But something is just off and I can't place my finger on it. I know the creator of the show stepped down to a lesser role after season 5, so maybe that's it Writing doesn't seem as good so far, and I just don't like Sam. I did read that there is question about what all came back when Sam returned from hell.
Castiel, my favorite character, showed up in the episode I started last night, and he annoyed me as well. I know a lot of you said that it lost it's steam after the 5th season, but I held out hope that it wouldn't be as bad as everyone made it. I'm not optimistic now.
Please tell me they find their way eventually.

Some of the best stand alone episodes come in season six.
Give it a bit for the characters to get back into it and for Sam to get better.
Season six is still great TV, just it could have ended on five.

It could have ended. It almost felt as if that last shot with Sam standing outside of Dean's house was a last minute choice.
"We're doing another season. Bring in Jared."

That's pretty much exactly what it was

3 of the best episodes of the series is in season 6. My favorite episode ever is episode 15. Season 6 isnt the best but it's still good. I am with on how it just doesn't seem the same at the begininng and I couldnt put my finger on it.

It starts getting good around episode 9

I'm currently on season 7. I am probably halfway through it. Season 6 wasn't terrible, but I just wish they would have ended with 5. The ending for season 5, without the shot of Sam at the end, would have been PERFECT.

Just hoping it doesn't end up like the Matrix debacle. After the first one, almost everyone was dying for a sequel. Now, "they should have just stopped with the first one".

Nah, it's not that bad. There are still quality episodes, but, and I know some will consider me a bitch for saying this, that last episode of season 5 moved me. I felt fully invested with Sam and Dean, and that just seemed the perfect way for it to end.

Dude, this entire series, all the way to the end of season 5, has been gut wrenching for me. Just the beginning of season 4 when Dean comes back was done so well and so emotionally stirring, IMO.
Oh. The most repeated phrase in the show: "I already told the police all of this."

Oh definitely. With all of the deaths and returns and all of that, it was great. I don't know how it isn't more popular. I guess cause it's on CW and most people think only girly shows play on that channel.

Exactly why I never gave it a serious look. Only reason I ever knew it existed was I caught a marathon of it on TNT late one night. Then never saw it again until Netflix.

as others in this thread have said season 6 is mediocre but has some of the best stand alone episodes of the series. season 7 on the other hand is just god awful all around, i really really hope they can get their shite together and produce something watchable for the season 8.
you still in LA or back in OH? also what happened to your phone i saw your post in the olympic thread?
quote:i have seen numerous people on this board refer to it as a teenage girls show. that is beyond laughable maybe because the two lead characters are attractive guys, but outside of that there isn't any logical relation to a girl show.

Yeah, 7 isn't very good. Didn't the girl who was creating shows for 7 leave though? I can't remember the guy they picked up to do the show now.

One of the main writers for the American version of Being Human has been brought in as the lead writer and the show was moved back to Wednesdays
