Mark Packer on Siruis Radio had that as a topic today as well. No one is talking about the University of Washington. They offered a 14 year old who actually committed.

Has anyone ever raised the possibility that ESPN hates LSU?

yeah, it's no biggie. I'm remember a while back Dale Brown was open about starting to recruit Shaq when he was in junior high. It happens if a young kid is that much of a standout.
And I'm not sure about this, but wasn't this a kid who was participating in the recent LSU football camp? If so, and the kid was holding his own against juniors, then I can't think of any good reason Miles or whoever should not have offered the kid on the spot. He impressed the staff and this is their way of letting him know; it should motivate him to keep improving. The kid has to keep doing well for the next three years before he can even accept the offer, and if he doesn't it won't even matter. I don't see a down side for any of the parties involved.

Did they mention where the kid goes to school and the relevance of Miles offering all things considered? I doubted, because that would entail actual journalism.

In another thread I linked an article on ESPN about them offering a 13 year old 7th grader. there wasn't a major stink made over it in 2010.
ETA: Here it is.

Didn't Joey Harrington get a recruitment letter from Oregon the day he was born?
There's no reason to pay attention to Woody Paige's opinion anyway.
