I know he is pretty good, but he can be considered that elite/take away half the field level?
If he get's edged out of the Thorpe, it'll be by some DB with a bunch of INTs, fumble recoveries and forced fumbles.

He's definitely got the talent and athleticism to be a lock down corner, and judging by his performance thus far his ball skills on defending the deep passes are incredibly impressive. However, to climb up to the same level of PP7 or MO17, he needs to improve his tackle technique and zone coverage.

Everyone was pretty aware of Mo after the 2010 Spring game.
they were aware of richard murphy too. around the country, no one talked about Mo as being an elite player till much later than that

There is a quote from one of the SEC coaches in the Lindys preview mag comparing him to a "spider". He said "it was like he was really 6'7", all arms and legs". Dude never gets beat deep, I say match him up 1 on 1 against the other teams vertical threat and let him do work.

quote:Just keep in mind that he could fall short of their standard and slip back to "only" a 1st round draft pick, as opposed to top 6 pick. He could still be a dominant lock down corner without being as good as either of them. I'm hoping fans will keep in mind just how high of a standard to which we have become accustomed at that position, and judge him (if they feel they must) accordingly.
can he be a lock down corner a la Peterson and Mo?

I'm hoping he's got two more years to play at Lsu. But hey, if he doesn't, then yes, he's a lockdown corner.

When I think of Simon, I think about the pbu he had as a freshman against Bama when covering Jones while PP7 was on the sideline with cramps. He managed to break up the pass without interfering from BEHIND Jones. The guy has some sick ball skills, just no hands. His wing span alone gives him an advantage over other corners. I think he has the potential to be as dominate as Mo and PP7. It's more a matter of whether he can make picks rather than just pbus.

Bump. Just because some fans know so little about this future star at LSU.

Yeah whoever said he isn't as physical as PP7 and Mo must not have seen him against Julio and Fuller for aTm
Nah bruh...I watched both games from start to finish. He's not as physical as those two and I think everyone would agree with me. He uses his long arms to his advantage which is why he can bat down a lot of balls and play the deep ball very well. I think he's an absolute stud, but plays the game with a different style than Mo or PP7
