I got my SSD in today and I was wondering if anyone has any experience installing and using there? Anything I should know before trying to hook it up? tips and tricks?
want to install my OS and games on it and use my HDD for data

I am no PC expert but I would wash it really good in soapy water to make sure it's clean then run a magnet over it to make sure you get any loose particles off of it before installing it.

If you are a Steam gamer it will suck reinstalling unless you have a great net connection. Can't help you with your original question though.

hmm, what makes you think it's any different than a regular HD?
Plug it in, tap F5 a boot, format the drive with your OS, install software. Computer Management, format your other HD as NTFS for storage.

Would I see a significant performance boost to games on the SSD

You would not see any additional fps on any game due to having it on an ssd. Only faster load times.
With that said I still put my games on my ssd. Screw loading screens.

This. Computers are made to run as much of their active programs in RAM as possible. If you are getting a SSD I'm guessing you are already running 6-8+ gigs of RAM as well as a video card running 1-2GB of video RAM. Having your games on the SSD will help load times, but probably not enough to be worth the overall speed increase you'll get from having your OS running on it.

I put my OS and my big MMO and non-steam games on SSD.

I got this cool addon that allows me to easily create junctions between my SSD and HDD. Basically, I cut and paste my steam games to a folder on the HDD, right click the folder, pick link source, and drop as junction on SSD. Avoids any issues with running shyt off the secondary. Useful if you have a small SSD.

Yeah, I just put non steam games and my OS on there. Load times are down to almost nothing, which is awesome. I might end up getting another one just for steam, but we'll see. I've got a lot of steam games, and SSD space is still pretty expensive.
I didn't have any problems installing. It took a little bit for my migration tool to actually get my OS migrated from my older HDD to the new SSD, but once it finally finished it worked like a charm.
