The laughs are great, subtle, and earned, but I wouldn't call it the funniest show on TV. Maybe the most well written, thoughtful, honest, and awkward show on TV? Louis is awesome, and he deserves every accolade he gets. His show is one of the best things on TV right now.

Funniest show? No way. Good show? Yes. What's interesting about the show is that it has the honesty and subtle comedy that Seinfeld had, combined with the awkwardness that a show like The Office has.

As some have already said, it's one of the best shows on television. Just not "laugh out loud" funniest.

his little skits just suck me in. no it's not lol funny, but it's like once i start watching i'm hooked.. however i have not seen the homo stuff so i can't give an opinion on that.

His stand up is tremendous, the show is a different animal. It doesn't really fit nice and neat into a category so a lot of people have a hard time comparing it to their benchmarks.
I enjoy it, but sometimes struggle through episodes. I pretty much look at it as the show is setting up the stand up parts.
Louie is a National League game, and Workaholics is a NFL game, and Wilfred might be a NHL game.

I think this is accurate.
The show strikes me as Louie CK brain dump. It's a lot of concepts and situations he finds interesting and wants to explore, but may not fit into his stand up cleanly, so he uses the TV show as his forum to explore them. There's no overarching narrative, just a bunch of vignettes. It's unique.
He's ridiculous though, he puts out a new hour each year, tours it, and then writes and directs this show.

On that show on HBO with Louis, Seinfeld, Gervais, and Rock...didn't Louis say he never reuses jokes after a tour, he writes all new material for himself every year? That's amazing.

This. I don't think you can compare it to Workaholics, League, Archer, IASIP, etc. Its a completely different type of comedy/experience. And anyone who says that workaholics is a better show than Louie has immature taste. Don't get me wrong, I laugh at Workaholics, but Louie is better written, acted, and produced.

I am usually a huge fan of the show.
This season has been meh.

I love workaholics...but Louis may be the best show on tv......it is incredible. Uneasy, funny, etc.
