Stafford or Calvin Johnson

My league scoring is as follows:
6 pts per passing TD
1 pt per 25 passing yards
6 pts per rushing/receiving TD
1 pt per 10 yards rushing/receiving
I've narrowed my possible keepers to Stafford and Johnson.
According to most magazines Stafford will be cheaper against my salary cap. I know Johnson is hands down the most explosive WR on the board...however, Stafford will produce more points for less money.
My real question is this: Should I keep Johnson and pick up a tier 2 QB that will still provide me with decent production, or keep Stafford and hope a top notch WR is still available when I draft at 1.10?

I think you could probably keep Johnson, draft someone at 1.10, and then get stafford. I'm not sure where stafford is projected but I would doubt it's before 1.10 or pick 22ish. it's probably pretty close to pick 25-30.
That's assuming 1 keeper. With 2 keepers and Johnson as your 2nd, I doubt you could get stafford at pick 36ish. I would still probably keep Johnson. There are 15 or so qbs that should be pretty formidable this year. You will only find 1-2 wrs who will match Johnson.

If I drop Stafford, he will be gone with the first pick of the draft.
The owner of Andre Johnson will take him to pair the two up.

You take Mega, end of story
you can grab Vick, Romo or better at the turn if you want a QB that bad
I'd grab Gronk/Graham and go with Eli later(ADP 9th QB)

Schaub is Andre's pair
honestly....drop Stafford, keep mega....I can almost bet you that you will get Stafford again if you want him.(he will not go in the 1st round or "technically 2nd round")

With the point settings heavily tilted to QB, i wouldn't be so certain about that. To me it depends on how much it'll cost you to keep Stafford or CJ...
Without knowing that I'd go CJ then pick up someone like Romo. You can probably get him in the 2nd round and he should put up similar stats to Stafford

We do 6 pts for ALL TDs. A touchdown is a touchdown, why should one be 4 points just because they score more?
That's why it's 25 yards per passing point and it is why receivers get 1 ppr. It all equals out.
The 4th team in my league last year had a rotation of Alex Smith and Mark Sanchez for his QB. (Brees, Brady, and Eli were the other three)
ETA: Plus, it's 6 points for every quarterback. If you didn't get a top QB and you lose to Aaron Rodgers because of it...oh well, right?

Uh, yea?
I mean, it's the same for all the teams in your league but it puts QBs at a serious premium.
It's better when the scoring doesn't put a position on a pedestal

We try to make fantasy football mimic real football as much as possible (which is why we do IDPs as well) and as much as I hate to say it, QBs are put on a pedestal in the NFL - so them having more "weight" in fantasy isn't too ridiculous I'd say.

My line of thought is this: If I keep Johnson and pick up Victor Cruz with my first pick, I'll try to get Eli in the middle rounds.
Stafford is not staying on the board if I drop him. The guy with the #1 pick is taking him in the first.
Would that be a decent strategy?

Sorry to hijack your thread. But yeah, if you have to pick - I'd keep Calvin. Eli will put up comparable numbers to Stafford. You probably wont have another receiver even close to Calvin.

No hijak man...I appreciate your input.

so 8 man
top 4 ...those guys had 39-46 tds
The bottom 4 Eli, Romo, Ryan, Rivers had 27-31 tds
so at best 46-27= 19 tds or 38 points more than a 4pt/td league difference.
those 38 points spread over a 16 week season equate to 2.375/week more from a guy you'd have to take in the 1st round, over a guy you could grab WAY later.
But those specific 2.375 points guarantee you a Playoff spot? and points you get from a 1st round RB/WR don't negate those 2.375 points difference? Not buying it.
Take Calvin
