y'all are so annoying. please go look at the conference wide stats before posting how bad our hitting sucks. it really gets old reading it. btw, hitting .300 in the cape is unbelievable. Katz was an all star last year hitting around .270. Rhymes is not "slumping" at .262
Rhymes has a ton of strikeouts for him, that's slumping, he doesn't strikeout. And seriously, .262 isn't slumping for a guy who hit well over .400 this year?
And plenty of guys in Cape Cod are hitting .300+

So in summary, our hitters strike out a ton, and almost never walk. Our pitchers strike out a ton of batters and don't walk very many (except for Johnson and his 15 bb/14.2 innings).
This is pretty much in line with last season. There is a systematic flaw in the LSU hitters approach at the plate, and Paul Mainieri needs to figure it out quickly or he'll let our hitting instructor Tepper the baseball program.

Definitely agree about the walks, we need to take more....although it seems most people on here complained all season about not being agressive enough, wanting everyone to swing early in the count, etc. This season was the lowest walk % since 2008.
However, it was also the lowest strikeout % since 2005.

It was the lowest strikeout rate because we hit into a league high for double plays, and we ran into a ton of outs on the bases. Teams usually didn't have to pitch for 3 outs in an inning against us.

Those factors really don't have any impact on the percentage, maybe if we were talking about total numbers.

Why is Reed still on the team? What the hell happened to McCune? Glad to see we stayed consistent hitting the ball.

Rhymes is batting .244 , and Katz and Jones don't have enough at bats to qualify being listed.

Was McCune pitching underhanded?
Maybe the other team was allowing Pujols to bat in every slot?

Don't forget they are hitting with wood bats. Even though the BBCOR bats are deadened down some, it still is a world from wood. It takes some time to adjust, especially after playing 60 games already. I take the numbers with a grain of salt. Yocum and McCune are REAL cause for concern, but guys like Gleen give me hope. I also think Aaron Johnson may be scaring the frick out of some league batters. Looks like he doesn't even know where the ball is going!

Arby is hitting .298 through 16 games. Good for 4th on the team.

Christian Trent is a not a surprise to me. I saw him pitch at St Paul's in Covington. He is a real competitor with a fast ball that touches 90 mph and very good breaking stuff.
