We should have killed the game long before the 80th minute. Our main problem is still the same. We are converting about one in every ten chances. If we scored half of the chances we had YB would be broken and disheartened by the 60th minute and the game would be over. Now if we could find another wide man and a striker.

A really good rebuttal on that garbage piece that Martin Samuel wrote about how Suarez shouldnt win player of the year...

Then you snap to. Awakened from the slumber of consent to Martin’s siren song. The memories start to flood back. Luis Suarez. Ezra Pound. Nasty anti-Semite. Phillip Larkin, poet and small minded bigot. Luis Suarez – born of mixed race parentage in a truly multi-cultural society, has a reputation for getting the odd booking for diving on footy pitches. Footballer who all know is not a racist, but was (flimsily) accused of committing a racist act. Also did a handball in the world cup.
The footballer bracketed with the closet neo-fascists then. Not exactly birds of a fricking feather. Luis Suarez, Ezra Pound and Phillip Larkin. Sad thing is though, Samuel has probably tapped into the perception that best fits the broad view of Luis Suarez – the nasty, cheating, racist ‘foreigner’. Samuel is actually championing Suarez, but within the ludicrously prejudiced context of Suarez as the devil incarnate. The irony meter is off the scale. Great job bringing philosophy and art to the Mail’s back pages, but no need to push metaphorical dog shite through Luis Suarez’s letterbox whilst doing it. It is shite that simply shouldn’t be sticking to Suarez with the tenacity the likes of Samuel are determined to make it do.

That article so closely sums up my feelings on the situation that I feel like I wrote it myself.
Bravo Mr. Gutmann, bravo. Although it won't go one centimeter in changing anyone's views because no one is open minded enough to see anything but what they want to see anymore.
No matter. We still have the best striker in England and he isn't going anywhere. That's the real source of this bigotry. Tribalism at its best.

ESPN HATES LIVERPOOL!!

It might just be me but I am not a big fan of long range hopeful punts and find it hard to classify them as great goals.

It isn't just you. The first goal was lovely skill, no doubt about it. But the second was a goal based on probability. As I said earlier, YB are an inferior side. I read that 72% of their shots were from beyond the 18, and one of their players took something like 6 or 7 from distance. It's a bullshite way to approach a match. It's no coincidence that the wonder goals we always see almost always come from inferior/smaller clubs.

the first goal was pretty sweet... I'm not sure if a more seasoned RB could have prevented it or not... the second was probably in there due to its importance in the outcome...
Actually, I think it was the same guy that had a shot from distance earlier that swerved just wide of the goal... No way Pepe would have gotten to that one if it was on target...

Also I read that Lucas played for 60 minutes today with the boys

Think we'll see him as a 10 minute sub against Swansea?
Posted on 11/23/12 at 8:56 pm to BleedPurpleGold
Would be awesome. Rodgers doesn't use his full 3 subs every match, so there is a good possibility he may come on pretty late.

I was disappointed in Pepe's effort to save the late goal. I have seen him make better saves.
