LSU fans will have to get ready for the Tongan Tiger. For what is believed to be the first time in the program's storied history LSU will have a player of Tongan heritage on its roster after College of San Mateo (Calif.) offensive guard Fehoko Fanaika signed a scholarship Thursday with the Tigers

I thought Kevin Mawae was of tongan descent? he was from Leesville but only because his folks were in the army. I definately sports the tribal tattoo, just curious.

Mawae is of Hawaiian descent, according to Wikipedia.

Kevin's dad is Hawaiian and his mom is from Washington state. Dad was in the military......Kevin was actually born in Germany.

I saw that too, but then I thought, "this is wikipedia", and "Hawaiian" can be an over generalized description because they came from somwhere...i'm not trying to split hairs, just thought there might be more to his heritage background.
still excited about the Tongan Tiger

Nope....true islanders. I've met all his immediate family when they first first visited the main land for a game.
