What is the website to go check the status of your refund?

Has anyone received a refund on the flex fuel credit that had filed by June 14th but had not received the refund by that date?

I called Thursday (I filed April 17 by mail), becuase I hadn't received it yet. They told me that it was approved and sent out on July 2, but they sent it to my old address so they were resending in Friday. So unless they were lying to me, they approved mine on July 2 (after the ruling). Thanks again for whoever started the original thread on this btw.

Congrats to those who acted quickly. My CPA screwed around and filed my return after June 14th. I assume there will be a class action suit for those of us who are entitled to the refund based on the law, but denied it based on Jindal's "letter". Has anybody heard about how the rest of us can proceed to get our credit?

Sorry to hear that. Procrastination is definitely a pre-req for that certification.

Pine, I am in the same boat. I am sure some lawyer will take our cases if the state tries to let that little bastards letter stand.

in the CPA's defense, it's not like he knew of the June 14 deadline before June 14th...wasn't it retroactively applied?

Yes, it was applied retroactively. My CPA isn't exactly on the cutting edge of things and we filed in March.

I could possibly give him/her a free pass. However, you know there are some tax professional who were riding the fence, waiting for a "clear cut decision", and likely cost their client $3,000.

Anybody with a brain knew the State couldn't afford this. The window was going to close quickly once the credit was claimed on a larger scale.

Ultimately, the law needed to be written much clearer if Flex Fuels were to be disallowed.

I have been saying this, it was an awful credit

It might be an awful credit, but Jindal can not just set a date to honor it. It is either legal for all or needs to be collected back from the ones paid already. The state WILL lose in court.

I think we all agree on that

The date just buys them some time to get their shite together and not be bombarded with amended returns, IMO. That's my best guess.

Those who filed by June 14 and had not received the refund are now receiving their refunds. Glad I didn't wait on a "clear cut" decision or procrastinate on behalf of any client. Only one new client came to me after June 14th looking for the credit who, as of now, lost out.

Did you file an amended return anyway for this client just in case the letter is challenged & is thrown out? If the rejection letter doesn't hold up, but the law is changed to exclude the flex-fuel vehicles, the state would still have to honor the amended returns up until the date the new law takes effect, correct?
