PM made a gutsy call. If he had started anyone else and loss the game then this board would have fried him.
The call was the right one and it proved to be so.
He has a better feel for this team than the coaches in the stands or this board.

They should be questioning all the pitches stony brooks ace threw in the past week.
No doubt. That poor guy collapsed after the game yesterday...and they want to question Gausman throwing 12 pitches? ESPNBS.

One was the #4 overall draft pick and about to have a team invest millions in him.
One was the 33rd round pick from a small school, and has the type of throwing motion where the stress on his arm isn't awful.
Not a legit comparison

Law is a freakin' idiot. Leading the charge in the pussification of baseball. Wish Ben would reach over and bitch slap that weenie.

manufactured controversy?
bullshite sensationalism. Gausman threw fewer pitches yesterday than he did in the Regional game. This is total bullshite. Why don't we see these kinds of stories when Mark Appel throws over 150 pitches for Stanford in a regular season game against Oregon?

I know you weren't responding to me , but Appel is a similar pitcher, and he was allowed to throw 150+ pitches in a game. No ESPN story on that.

frick ESPN!!!!!!! I guess the sensationalism they like to create has made it down the network to espnu. I guess it's a company wide initiative.

Eff ESPN and the Orioles if they have a problem with it.

I'm pretty sure he was one of the Ivy League, money ball types with no baseball experience before he got hired by the Blue Jays.

I like how Ben McDonald keeps shooting him down each time, saying it's a manufactured controversy and equivalent to a pitcher going right out after a rain delay. He did bring up the usage of Stony Brook's pitchers too.

Keith Law believes whatever he thinks, it should happen, after Rummel and Jesuit High schools played earlier this season, whenever the pitch counts on those 2 pitchers were very high. Keith Law actually called both high schools throughout the week asking for athletic directors to suspend the coaches of the 2 ballclubs.

The reason there is any talk is because of the break in between games. You do a full warmup in the pen, pitch, then have to somehow stay warm for an hour. It's worse for your arm to cool off and go again as opposed to doing a lot of pitches in one game.
Honestly, I think if KG had crossed 20 pitches in the first one, he wasn't pitching game 2. Which is why I thought it was dumb to pitch him in the 12th

The baseball america guys on Twitter are just abusing Keith Law right now. It's pretty funny how little respect he has garnered among his peers.
ETA: not just baseball america, SEBaseball, Perfect Game. They all just talk about how little he knows about baseball.

If saban over worked a RB they'd say he was helping the kid with his pro career. ESPN HATES LSU!!!

Gausman didn't pitch the entire second game. If he pitches 12 pitches, then keeps his arm warm between games(which was all of 35 to 40 min.) by throwing a few pitches, then pitches 7 innings, how is that different than throwing a complete game which nobody would ever question?
