Granted there are the exceptions such a lord of the rings, but when I see previews for a movie that looks badass and then see it has a pg-13 rating I cant help but feel a little dissappointed.

In general, yes. Especially Action movies.

Expendables 2 is rated PG-13. I'm already disappointed.

Live Free or Die Hard, for all its faults, was much better as the Unrated "R" version released on DVD.

Yes. I basically don't watch PG13 movies in the theater unless its something exceptional. Damn punk kids everywhere

Yes, especially for comedies just because it usually means its either a romcom or family dramedy (which just doesnt appeal to me)

I honestly haven't paid any attention to rating since I was old enough to get into any movie, not knocking you it's just something I don't think about anymore.

Isn't Dark Knight Rises pg13?

Treading close to speaking ill of Nolan. Move cautiously.

Little bitches giggling, talking, and texting throughout. No thanks, I'll wait to see it at home.

When Prometheus was slapped initially with PG-13 I was extremely pissed. Now that it is R I'm happy

I understand, but i like the vocal and visual characteristics that a rated R movie brings.

Example: Drive (recently regarded as a great movie) could have easily been released as pg-13 by removing the cursing and few very fiolent images, but it it had would it have been as good?

it would have told the same story, and you would have gotten all the same feeling but it would seem as though it was missing actual human emotion and reaction. that is what the violence and cursing brought to it i think.

This is an exception obviously, but there aren't many for me personally

Some movies like DKR have to be PG-13 to appeal to a broader audience.

TO answer the OP, yes. I can't think of any examples off of the top of my head, but sometimes when I see a trailer for something and it says PG-13 at the end, to me that means watered down.

I also think the reverse is true. Many movies could probably be PG but they put a drug reference or a sex joke in there to make it PG-13 so teenagers and frat boys will want to see it.

Actually you can put as much blood as you want in a PG-13 movie as long as it isn't red (see John Carter)

It doesn't really upset me, especially Comedy wise because every once in a while there is a great comedy that comes out that happens to be PG-13.

Case in point-- Crazy, Stupid, Love

But from an action movie standpoint, I much prefer R-rated.

Some comedies are just lame when they try to water them down for TV. The Hangover and Eurotrip for example.

I am more disappointed when I see a movie that is clearly intended for kids but it is made PG because they just HAD to put some bad language in it.
