Running in? Or going to win? Lots of horses start at msw, but finally have to drop down to maiden claiming. Totally depends on how she does. I know of a horse with idiot connections who had slow works, bad breeding, and still started in state bred maiden special company. He ran dead last by a lot. What did they do? Throw him in an open special weight after that last place effort they started dropping him. He's still trying to get his first win at the maiden 5 level. Also, 4 and still in special weight? She get a late start or has she been close a few times? How's she bred?

She just ran her first race a few weeks ago against a field of mostly other first timers. Came in 4th. Sire is Storm Passage, Dam is Smarty Pants. I'm just curious what kind of price might go with a horse like that.

What's her name? I'll put her on my watch and look out for her. Totally depends on what she does while running, though. Good 4th? Or beaten 20 lengths 4th? Uf she has a good trainer, he wouldnt put her sw unless he thought she could win. Did she have issues that delayed her start until halfway through her 4 yr old year?

I'd think unless she's crazy over classed shed be worth at least $25,000 or he'd be running her for a tag.

Usually the more conditions they go through, unless they are going to be stakes horses, the less they ate worth.

Divine Providence. I'm a racing fan and a pretty good handicapper, if I do say so myself. But I know very little about the business side of it. I'm trying to get an idea of the costs involved. No reason, just for my own knowledge.

It's EXPENSIVE. Cost of the horse is only the beginning.

Had my mare at the track for a short time and it was stressful (I'm poor) even though I had no day rate for stall or training (perk of banging the trainer). It was almost a relief when she had a minor injury and I could retire her to the broodmare career I bought her for., though that's breaking me too.

Wow. From haskin's blog on bloodhorse. All I can say is ny

Union Rags requires silicone-free needles to
quote:

draw blood, because he is very sensitive on his neck, so Matz brought several silicone-free needles with him and informed the proper authorities in advance. But he still was given a hard time by the attending vet, who insisted on using regular needles and told him he’d have to clear it with the stewards. It took another vet to step in and help calm the situation.
