ESPN's MLB Franchise Player Draft

They did this last year and Glanville famously picked Wilson freakin Ramos. Here's the top 10:
1. Kemp
2. Tulo
3. Kershaw
4. Verlander
5. Longoria
6. Strasburg
7. Justin Upton
8. Votto
9. Starlin Castro
10. Felix
Full Link
Not that I don't like Starlin, but I'd take almost every player on their top 30 over him. Not as much to debate this year (edit: frick that, glanced over number 26) although I was surprised Harper didn't make the top 10.

Castro that high is a joke. Where is Nike Stanton?

Why the hell is everyone jizzing over this guy? He's over Braun, Harper, Trout, Stanton, Cargo, David Price, Cano, etc., some of which have not even hit their peaks. Weird.

Wouldn't have a P in my top ten if starting a franchise.

Stanton is at 14, right behind Harper and Trout. I'd put Stanton and Harper in the top 10 and take Upton and Castro out.

All good, figured you were on the phone when I spent a minute trying to google if Stanton's nickname was Nike for some reason.

Miggy Cabrera, the best hitter in baseball, is at 29. Coincidentally, that's also his age. Way too low for him, IMO.

I also just realized that Sutcliffe picked Samaradizja
Posted on 5/31/12 at 3:46 pm to floridatigah
Ahem, Bryce Harper for me please.

That's what I thought as well, but I guess they think he's going to decline pretty quickly. I also wouldn't leave off Hanley, who is just 28.

I'm more baffled as to why 27 y/o Samardzija is ranked before a 26 y/o CarGo than I am just Samardzija's ranking.

There are some headscratchers in there.
Stanton and Cargo are way too low.
The Cubs (should not even be two) are too high.
IMO, I would rather have the 26-28 superstud than the 20-23 likely to be a stud in most cases.

Yeah, I mean like I would rather have Cargo than Brett Lawrie.
I would rather have Harper or Trout over Stras. He is awesome, but he is also Tommy John Round 2 waiting to happen.

Longo is always really high on these lists, but I dunno.
Posted on 5/31/12 at 4:23 pm to floridatigah
Man, that list just shows how much the league has fallen off in recent years. How many players in the top 20 are on track to make it to the Hall of Fame? Verlander, Longoria, Hernandez, and Strasburg if he can keep it up. That's it. If you had to create a same list ten years ago, most of the top 20 would have been made up of HOF caliber players.
