my thoughts on the USMNT

first thing i would like to say is, it is a shame that we didn't qualify for the Olympics, thank you caleb porter and u23.
secondly after watching last nights game this team flows better, plays better, moves better, passes better, defends better, scores better, smiles better, takes a shite better with jurgen at the helm than they did with bradley.
The usa looked terrific, and we did it without dempsey, and jozy.
Our game vs brazil will be telling of how good this team is, we beat italy already, and if we can beat another tier 1or2 national team again we will be very dangerous. I think this team if fully healthy can make a run in the wc if they make it and get put in a decent group.
The future looks bright with guys like bradley, boyd, lichaj, corona, holden, shea, adu, edu, and hopefully chandler, and other young guys.
i just want our team to be feared,and respected. Not oh this should be easy were playing the USA.

You are getting way ahead of yourself...yes we looked great, the greatest I have ever seen us play, but it was just for one game...we need to be consistent over the next few decades before we have a shot at a title...for now, I'll take getting out of the group
And it's insane to even talk about the WC right now...we have qualifiers to worry about, ok maybe this summer will be a cakewalk but the hexagonal is still very difficult

Edu's older than the others and just not good enough. Chandler can go frick himself.

Torres and Bradley were our playmakers last night not Donovan, his finishes however, were sublime...which is how it should be

The only reason I said what I did is that Bradley wasn't a bad coach.
Did Bradley get stale for the US. Yes. But, Internationally you're only good for one cycle it seems.
The USSF kind of fricked with Bradley the entire time he was manager. Constantly, talking about getting another coach. Putting the interim tag on him, courting managers twice while he was our manager.
He had a 43-25-12 record. Not bad for a US guy. Plus, he lead us to a CONFED Cup Final, and out of group stage at WC with a ton of injuries to our team.
Our team now is basically the same as it was before he got here. Bradley was also trying out some new talent in Agudelo, Bunbury, and some others.
I'm enjoying Klinsmann a lot. I'm a big fan. However, I don't want to go that far, yet. I think he has a lot of potential and could go down as one of the best USMNT managers ever.
BUT, Italy is pretty down compared to usual. Scotland sucks. Klinsmann is now 6-1-4. I like the new additions and I THINK we are on the rise.
Lets just remember, Bradley in his first year went 12-1-5. I think he went almost an entire year without losing a game.

I wouldn't say it means nothing, it's a good measuring stick for Jk to see where we are at...and if we play like we did against the scots it will bring on another summer soccer revolution...which seems to be happening every summer now

It is hard to tell who pans out and who will be there starting in 2014, but at this point, I feel like most of the starting 11 is coming into place.
Not going left to right or anything. Just listing possibilities. I think I like a 4-3-3.
Howard
Dolo, Bocanegra, Gooch, Johnson
Jones, Bradley, Torres? (hopefully Stubear will return)
Donovan, Altidore, Dempsey
I think that may be a top 20-25 team in the world that could get to the knockout rounds and maybe even win a game with a decent draw (not against those fricks from Ghana).

We got lucky that match, that was the 1 game out of ten we would have gotten a result against that Spain team...yesterday the off the ball movement, creativity, and passing was the best I've ever seen from a mnt squad

My list of best US players (assuming Howard doesn't count):
1A. Donovan
1B. Dempsey
3. Bradley
4. Cherundolo
5. Gooch (when healthy)

2. Donovan. Best finisher ever for the US. No one is going to beat him there. Arguably, 1a. 1b.
3. Howard. He has done it for years at a high ceiling.
4. Bradley. Young but the most promising. Lack of Experience keeps him out of top 3.
5. Jermaine Jones. Great passer out of the back. Best long ball passer, and one of the best technical players in the pool.
6. Jozy Altidore. Young and I'd move him into top 5. But, his inexperience, youth, and him just now finally moving into his role at striker.
7. Steve Cherundolo. Best defender. Best player at the last World Cup. Unfortunately, he is getting older and dropping. :-(
8. Carlos Bocanegra.

Also, I don't mean that Bradley doesn't have a bunch of caps. Its just he can get better and he hasn't had significant playing time outside of this year for a team. In Germany, he fell out of favor. He didn't play much at AV on loan.

The fact that we have so much disagreement over who the best players are puts a smile on my face, shows how far we have come in a short period of time as a soccer nation...no better time to be a USA fan
