Algier's doesn't have a ton of places in the local vicinity but I'll toss my westbank places at you.

Lil G's Seafood - Belle Chase (not that far away)
Moe's Pizza
Red Maple
Kim Son
Cafe Diblasi (solid italian)
Olive Branch Cafe - solid pizza*
Dry Dock Cafe*
Tan Dinh
New Orleans Food and Spirits
Mosca's
Philly's - great steak sandwiches. one in the oakwood mall and one up on the expressway by west jeff hospital. I love this place.

These are all westbank places. The * ones are located in Algiers. The other stuff is worth driving to imo.

I miss DiMartino's Po-boys

Red Maple's quality has gone down. So much so that business slumped to the point of them closing for lunch now.

Kim Son is great.

I eat Olive Branch a lot due to proximity to my office. The pizza is really good, and they have good pasta dishes as well.

I like DiBlasi's and Mandina's. Beef Connection is okay, but I think it's overpriced for the level of service and quality of food you get.

Chubby's in Algiers has good po-boys also. And there is a place in the shopping center by the Wal Mart that has good po-boys. I think it's Behrman Seafood, but I'm not 100% sure. There is a pho place right there as well, but it's average at best. Nowhere near Pho Tau Bay or Pho Hoa on Manhattan.

I've heard Noodles has good Chinese, but I've never been so I can't confirm.

I still need to go to Dry Dock and NO Food & Spirits.

ETA: I really like DiMartino's as well. And as someone mentioned, Tennou is really good. Cuco's is good for generic Mexican.

I've had good breakfast at Common Ground in Gretna. There is also a tiny restaurant just around the corner from Red Maple that I really liked, but I can't remember the name of it.

Do you remember a place on Belle Chasse Hwy. called "Elmo's"? When we'd visit mom, we'd go. It was great.
