yes it has decentralized the media in many respects and led to more news getting out faster

look at how fast stories break on the OT. we were discussing the trayvon martin stuff the night it happened, which was a week before the national news picked it up

The speed is awesome. Unfortunately though, it's led to lots of misinformation and very less than average "reporters" to say the least.
