According to this guy. He brings up lots of valid points. I enjoy shooting my 1911, but I probably wouldn't ever carry one.

The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our female party guests—we did. But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick perverted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg: isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do what you you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America!

I'm not sure why but in some form this felt appropriate to post here

The fact that the gun was designed in 1911 is what makes it such a badass gun.

I don't think many people would argue that a Glock (or one of the other higher end semis; HK, Sig, etc) isn't a smoother shooting weapon.

I would argue that there isn't a smoother shooting gun then a 1911, but the problem is if run them hard they tend to stop working. Whereas a Glock type weapon can gun right out of the box with heavy usage.

I will wait to hear any feed back from people that have been shot with 1911's while trying to due harm or steal, and see what they think about the 1911 as a defense/carry piece...

I'll fully agree with him there. I think XD's are vastly overrated.
