Grade your NFL team's 2011 draft

1 week away from the 2012 draft. How did your team(s) do last year in hindsight?
Seahawks
1 (25)- James Carpenter - A lot of people said this was a reach, but he was playing really well right before he got injured.
B
3 (75) - John Moffit - We really need a guard. Was injured most of the season.
Incomplete
4 (99) - K.J. Wright - Beat out Aaron Curry for a starting linebacker spot and played well. Linebacker is a big need now, so it's great that this worked out.
B+
5 (154) - Richard Sherman - Quite possibly the steal of the entire draft. Graded out as one of the best corners in the league and made the Pro Bowl.
A+
Nobody else that was drafted is really worth mentioning or has an incomplete grade.
Bonus: Signed UDFA Doug Baldwin who was the leading receiver with 788 yards and 4 TD.
Overall: C+ with the potential to get up to a B+.
I also follow the Titans, probably even more than the Seahawks.
Titans
1 (8) - Jake Locker - First big surprise pick of the draft. Lots of folks called it a reach a ton here were laughing. When filling in for Hasselbeck, he looked like a potential franchise QB. Ended the season with a 99.4 QB rating, 543 yards passing with 4 TD's and 0 INT's. Might be the starter this year.
B/Incomplete for now.
2 (39) - Akeem Ayers - Solid, not spectacular his first year. Good potential and good value for the pick. Instant starter and will start again this year.
B+
3 (77) - Jurrell Casey - Starting DT. Looked very good his rookie season. Very good value for the pick.
A-
4 (109) - Colin McCarthy - Starting MLB. Stud. Steal for a 4th round pick. If he started from the beginning, he could have made a run at DROY.
A
4 (130) - Jamie Harper - Looked decent, but nothing special. Runs more like a small back even though he's supposed to be in the big back role. The line was terrible though, so maybe he looks better with an improved line.
C
5 (142) Karl Klug - Situational pass rusher from the DT spot. Has 7 sacks as a rookie. Very good value here. Not sure if he could hold up as a full-time starter yet.
A-
The last 3 picks in the draft have an incomplete grade. Tommie Campbell looks like he could be a diamond in the rough as a 7th round pick if he could stop with the bonehead plays.
Overall B+ with Locker having the potential to push this to an A+ if he turns out to be the franchise QB the Titans were looking for.

You really love Jake Locker, don't you?

I loved him so much that I gave him the 2nd lowest grade out of the 6 picks that I listed for the Titans. He does have the potential to be an A+ pick though. I would bet that most people who actually watched him play would give him better than a B grade.
ETA: But to answer your question, yes, he is my favorite player in the NFL. I'm extremely biased since I know him personally, but I feel like I took the bias out of my post.

(He's 1000x better than nothing)

The Mark Ingram pick will prove to be a smart one when we have RB health issues again. Last year we got lucky with health.

Oh I'm 110% serious when I say it was brilliant. I'd much rather have Ingram than have that pick taken away by Goodell

that is the silliest logic ever used to justify trading up for a 1st round pick to get a goddamn RB
you can sign cheap vets to perform the same role without wasting multiple draft picks

this is an underrated conspiracy theory regarding the pick

come on, 4th string RB is worth using 2 picks

Patriots
Nate Solder-OT 1st
A- Started in all except like 3 games and will deffinitly be the LT of the future, possibly of next year if Light retires
Das I Rowling CB 2nd
Incomplete- Started week one but got hurt and never came back. Really excited about his potential but really worried if he can stay healthy
Shane Vereen RB 2nd
Incomplete- couldnt stay healthy but Will get a chance to show what hes got this year
Stevan Ridley RB 3rd
(B-)- looked at times like our best back and hell have a shot at being the mainback next year but was ultimatly undone by some fumbling problems late which caused him to be a nonfactor in the playoffs
Ryan Mallet QB 3rd
Id give it a C based on upside but really its an incomplete because he never dressed for us and will be a 3rd stringer again next year
Macus Cannon 5th OL
A- Close to Solder as the best pick of the draft. He was a 1st round talent that dropped to the 5th due to he disease and when he finally got cleared, he contributed right away and im not sure where hell play but hes going to either be our future RT or RG depending on how Vollmer holds up
Lee Smith TE 5th
F- didnt make it out of camp, but there were good reports about him. I think they really wanted to keep him on the practice squad and he would have been useful later in the season when the Pats needed a 3rd TE
Malcolm Willliams CB 7th
(D-)- honestly dont remember this guy at all
he dressed a couple games but when we had a secondary as bad as we did and he never even got a shot, i gotta believe that his skills as a corner are limited and he never got on ST to show something there
And Yes i did use "We" and "Us" soooo suck it

1. Tyron Smith...A plus. Was incredible as a rookie at RT. Will likely move to LT this season and allow Free to move back to his best position at RT? Kid is still so young he has potential to be the best tackle in the league.
2. Bruce Carter...incomplete...injured all season and played special teams in a few games at end of season. Dallas drafted him knowing he was recovering from cal surgery but basically were willing to eat a full year based on his potential. This year will be big for him.
3. Demarco Murray ...A. ...great value for a third rounder. Showed great toughness as the season wore on. Looks like a above average starting RB. Injury ended his season early and the teams running game was crap.
The other guys they drafted are scrubs. Chapas, Arkin, some other scrub Oline, some scrub CB....I rank them all as fails

How does B, B+, A+ and the arguable the best UDFA = an overall C+

I couldn't be happier with the Cards getting Pat P last year. He is one of my favorite LSU players of all time and he single handedly won a few games for us on punt returns. I wish Ryan Williams would have been able to play last year though, I was excited to see what he could do. Plus with Beanie getting injured all of the time, it would have been nice to give him some rest. Sam Acho, our 4th round pick played pretty well this past season as well.

Because there was like 4 guys I didn't feel like listing that were F grades.

As a saints fan: the Mark Ingram pick was the hardest thing to ever sit around and watch. It's hard for me to defend anyone ever trading up for a RB.

Shane Vereen RB 2nd
Wow, didn't realize he went that high in the draft. Did he have good reviews through camp or was he injured for everything?

Injured through camp and the first part of the season. By the time he was healthy, Ridely had stole the show. Good practice reports and looked impressive in the games he did play (scored a TD in a blowout late in the year)
I thought he was a reach but now with BJGE gone, its nice to have a couple good young RBs with different skill sets and not have to worry about getting one in this draft
