Game of Thrones homosexual question for book readers?

Is the Baratheon king, cannot recall his name, a homosexual in the book or is that something HBO added to keep in line with the agenda they seem to promote in all productions?

There are no written sex scenes between Renly and Loras, but it is made obvious that they are lovers.

It is hinted at that he is gay, but it isn't thrown in your face like HBO is doing.

Gay in the book too. Westeros isn't like Middle Earth. People in Westeros are as human as we and experience the same dark carnal indulgences.
HBO isn't promoting an agenda. They're actually trying their best to stick to the books and they're doing a great job.

Don't worry about it. More important things are coming up.

I other words it was suggested but not explicitly stated like HBO is portraying. Given HBO's political leanings I'm surprised.

I'll take "What did Renly say to Loras for a $1,000" Alex.

What agenda would that be?
Do shows that show hetero sex promote an agenda too?
Some of you people are fricking weirdos with all of your conspiracy theories and foil hats.

Well, the books definitely suggest it. How else can you "suggest" homosexuality on a tv show without showing it.
Come on people, the character is gay. The books are brutal and very adult. HBO is honoring the storyline.
And yes, don't worry about it. Keep focusing on Maraery Tyrell and what's getting ready to happen...

The same way they used to. You don't have to actually show two people in bed together to suggest that they are intimately involved.

You know what agenda it is. Hetero sex is commonly accepted by society and does not create the same shock value of homosexual scenes displayed on television. I did not create this societal standard I simply comented on it.
It is also rather obvious that HBO has many shows that contain blatant homosexual scenes that were not present in the books the shows were developed from. I don't know about you but if the same thing happens several times on one network it seems to me that at least a trend must be recognized.
If you consider rational realists to be weirdos I guess I fit that bill.

I was surprised when I saw the Gay Scene. Not because of the scene but because of how tame it was, but when it was discussed on here, I thought it was going to be worse than brokeback mountain, with some man pounding. When all it was was two shirtless guys talking, then not 10 seconds later. Perfect tits to cleanse the palate.

I'll post whatever I want! Plus, I didn't give anything away. What I should've said was "keep focusing on Margaery Tyrell ladylumps and then the building momentum of the storyline.
Quick being sensitive. Are you Renley Baratheon?

2 dudes kissed in bed. The horror.
Where was this thread when the 2 whores were banging in each other 2 weeks earlier?

Again, I don't set the standards of society I simply recognize them. Two good looking women kissing is far less offensive to the vast majority of the U.S. population than two men doing the same. Surely you recognize this.

Neither should really be "offensive".
It is important to the story and who Renly is, HBO couldn't imply it the way it was done on paper.
Loras and Renly's relationship is obviously important.

Yes.
But it was only very gently hinted at in this stage of the books.
The first time it was overtly stated was in the 4th book when Jaime said to Loras:
"Now sheathe your bloody sword, or I'll take it from you and stick it in a place even Renly never found."
