It'a like the Mac of grills. The people that use them are borderline cultists.

Frankly, I just don't get it.

Have one and hardly ever use it. Great for steaks but cleaning it out and getting it going everytime takes forever and is a royal pain in the arse. Still love using it but I would say I use it 1 time for every 35 times I use my gas grill.

My dad has one. Loves it to death. He would probably take a bullet for the thing

Sorry...

Seemed more like an OT question since I was more interested in the psyche of the people that use them, as opposed to the actual usage of the grill.

you don't have to clean the ash every time. just stir the charcoal. with an electric starter i prep the grill and it's going in less than 10 minutes. you're doing something wrong.
and it vaporizes the gunk i used to have to clean w/ my gas grill. gave it away after the second cooking w/ the bge

WTF are you talking about? The psyche of people that use a good product? Those people like nice things. Like Costas and Chacos, brah...but like, food type things...and shite.

Screw the electric starter, just light with a MAPP torch. Hit it in 3 spots, walk away, cooking in 20 minutes.

I can see if you don't know what you are doing with the BGE that it would be frustrating. Once you learn it, you don't want to cook on anything else.

Yeti is a far superior product without a rival.

BGE's are extremely nice but people have different preferences when grilling. There are pro's and con's, and that means there are choices and rivals.

If you can afford a yeti and need an ice chest then there are only pro's, no con's. FWIW, I'm a BGE fan and a yeti owner.

It is similar to a propane torch but hotter, they have them at Home Depot, etc.
