Who here thought the Detroit Tigers would be leading the majors in Fielding Percentage and fewest errors given up?
I know, small sample size, but wow. It's not like opposing teams are avoiding hitting to Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder either.

Its hard to botch a ball when your fat arse has a 6 foot range.

I'm interested to hear how the pitchers are doing throwing to first base after fielding a comebacker to the mound.

therefore, stats are pretty meaningless thus far.

That is like saying Jeter is still the best SS because he commits the fewest errors. It just isn't true. A true way to look at it is how is it affecting the pitching. I will say their pitching will come around, but Cabrera is going to hurt at 3rd base no matter what. Look at Michael Young and the Rangers in 2010. Killed the Rangers defense so much they went out and got Adrian Beltre the next year.

I guess you stopped reading before you got to..."I know, small sample size, but wow. It's not like opposing teams are avoiding hitting to Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder either

No, I read the whole thing. It was a stupid post.
Errors and fielding percentage don't mean much when you have a 6 foot range, as someone else already pointed out.

Michael Young: 6'1" 200 lb 35 years old.
Miguel Cabrera: 6'4" 240 lb 28 years old.
You can't compare what Michael Young did as a 33 year old in 2010 to Miguel Cabrera as a 28 year old this year. He's lost a lot of weight and I've watched every inning of every game the Tigers have played so far this year. He is making great plays at 3rd and actually making it look easy.

Actually what's stupid is that people think he only has a 6 foot range.

You're right. The Tigers obviously have the best corner infield defense int the game!
If only the Rangers had someone as defensively sound as Cabrera at 3rd.

Ok, I get it. I'm just saying it's hard for Tiger fans not to get excited with what they've seen so far from Miguel Cabrera at 3rd.
It's an added bonus because we already know that he's above the rest at the plate.

You gotta give a couple months into the season to even get a gauge on stats.
I'm sure there will be stupid threads on here in a month or two talking about standings too, as if it matters.

I just hope they keep scoring more runs than their opponent, then I will be happy.

Prince Fielder's defensive laziness does not translate into any measurable statistic

Yea, he gave us such defensive gems in spring training too.

I wonder who is going to be the worse 3B, Mark Trumbo or Miguel Cabrera? LOL
