Numbers game.
They close out your order and stop the clock on the register that monitors their service time for management and corporate to see when they tell you to pull up.
So your waiting for 5 min doesn't reflect on them.

i started this yesterday... i was mad... its to keep their timers at a good rate.... i want to tell them no... if your not doing your job im not going to let corporate think yall are.... but im too big of a pus and think they will spit in my food.... so i do as im told

When you pull forward the drive thru clock stops, this timer is used to gauge how good the service is at a location . In essence, they are cheating the system used to judge the crew's timeliness. FWIW, before I hand the server my money, I always ask, " are y'all gonna make me pull up?" if they say yes, I'm outa there.

my parents always used to be asked to pull up, i figured out its cuz they always ordered other shite like chicken tenders.
i always order just dark meat chicken with mashed potatoes and have never been asked to pull up.

Not at Popeyes, but I was with a friend once at another fastfood place and they asked him to pull up one night when there was no one behind us. He told them he would if another car came up and their order was ready before his. They were mad
