So the commissioner waits till the week after we have to renew our season tickets to announce he is suspending our Coach. Who's lying now. He knew damn good and well what they were going to do to the coach. And it was personal.

Also, the NFL encourages this behavior. If it didn't you wouldn't see contracts with bonuses for x number of tackles or sacks. Quit the lying!

Also, the NFL was asked point blank if announcing the injury report on Thursdays was for gambling purposes and they said no. Well there is only one other reason to release an injury report before every game. So I guess that means it is released to put players in harms way. Quit lying!

The coach should be punished financially for not stopping this. But, New Orleans should not be punished for this. You want to take our coach away for a whole season. Fine, then let's start investigating the other teams and punishing them equally because this goes on at all levels to believe otherwise is not nieve, but insane. This has all been a case of CYA! Quit Lying!

Whew, feel better for getting that off my chest. Now where do I sign up for the class action suit against the NFL!

I don't understand this season ticket conspiracy theory. Were you going to choose to NOT renew your season tickets because Payton is suspended? That's asinine.

We're still a very good team who has at least a 50/50 shot of winning the NFC South and hosting a playoff game.

So does it suck being a Saints fan in Minnesota right now? They seem to be most vocal about the "cheating".

If you knew the penalties before you renewed, would you have cancelled the renewal? I doubt you would have

The Vikings fans up here are so downtrodden about the state of their franchise that they are mostly silent.

Hell, everytime I try to engage a Vikings "fan" about their stadium situation I wind up explaining the proceedings to them.

No but if I was on the fence about paying $200,000 to renew my suite I may have to seriously reconsider.

Really, I guess you get your tickets for free. Spend 6 figures for business and personal usage, and you will definitely think about it.

Say what you will but why do Saints fans feel like this was personal? Honestly - you all believe that Goodell dislikes NOLA/Louisiana/Saints/Saints fans? Seriously? The "victim" personality wears thin living down here.

Get over yourselves a bit. I'm gonna bet my money on "he doesn't give a shite" either ways.

I think Goodell had some other dynamics at play between him and Payton.... nothing that involves a dislike for the fans here nor our state or whatever. I think the vicodin issue had goodell chapped a bit.

If this happened to the Falcons do you think the Falcons message board would be any different?

Oh - no, not at all. That's why I can't stand to post over there that often.

AKA Y'all are better than this/them.

I had no problem with any of the punishment except for Payton's suspension.

To give a head coach a full year of no-contact is extremely excessive.

I think that 6-8 games would have been more than enough to set a pretty major example that the behavior wouldn't be tolerated.

This is the correct answer.

This.
Also the likely suspension of Vilma to get the players all behind the shield.
The April 1st date to me is a killer blow. It is a punishment that will effect the franchise not for just a season but can have effects for years to come.
Player evaluations F.A. the draft and camp with all the moves that can be made up to week one can all be long term events. The NFL is punishing the Saints not for just one season but several.

Ha my point is every fanbase would react this way. Maybe even worse. There was bound to be a victim mentality when something this extreme happens to a team

FWIW I'm not as pissed at Goodell as some. I'm a little pissed because I think 1year is too long but the way Payton allegedly treated this situation warrants a big punishment.

The Vikings fans are the most vocal because they believe had there not been bounties they would've won. Which is butthurt stupidity.

I don't think they would've beat the colts anyways.

I can't get one of them on NFL.com to explain how the Saints had an onfield avantage from the bounty on Favre. All they resort to is name calling and some kid who keeps talking about virginity. It's the Kluwe article on there for anyone that wants to get involved.
