Beating dead horse.
But Skip let this happen!
LSU track and field middle of pack in SEC now!
Anyone else pissed about this?

Very disappointing decision by Skip. Pat was bringing us some championships. Wished Pat had stayed.
Any chance we could get him back?

skip sabotaged track n field because they were winning too much. It was threatening his baseball legacy

Saying it was sSkip's fault is plausible. Your reason is not.

Allowing Pat Henry to leave was a huge mistake by the university. He may have gone to A&M regardless but no effort was made to retain this college track legend.

I really miss being able to talk trash to all the other SEC fans about TRACK and FIELD!

Don't be ridiculous. LSU still has a perennial top 5 NATIONAL program in both Mens and Womens under Shaver.

Textiger, your point is a decent one and unlike some posters on here, I do care about ALL LSU sports. However, I do believe A&M offered Pat a LOT of $$$ and that part of his move was for personal reasons. Skip deserves some blame as man in charge, but not sure it is all on him at all.
I guess I am saying I like we still have a strong program but do wish we were where we were years ago, but I also see MUCH MORE BLATANT examples of sports that need new coaches at LSU, start with the poor/medicore excuse for a Gym Coach and next stop by the tennis courts (although I do give tennis a pass until we get some half decent facilities because ours are a joke)...

I kid.
Coach Henry is incredible, but I'd trade 100 Track Champions for a single BCS 'ship

If we really cared about track we would actually have a decent indoor facility to host meets every now and then and have priority point track meets.
And what about having the team host clinics on the track with local high schools or middle schools in the area to promote track in the community (hell, is there even a public track in Baton Rouge?)

Pretty sure A&M is his alma mater.

Most programs view the indoor track season as glorified, competitive training. And LSU's track success has come from it's ability to recruit sprinters, hurdlers and middle distance runners nationally and internationally. That is where ALL the scholarship money goes. Any talent they get from LA is just gravy.

I was really responding to the guy who said our two track fans were pissed, or whatever.
The program will always be successful, I am talking about fan support. If we want fan support, we need a decent indoor facility and for the team to support the local community. And a few student priority point meets for the outdoor track would help, also.

I'm just hoping that Swimming and Tennis can stay competitive.
In all seriousness, they probably put Pat's salary budget towards some new carpet in a suite in Alex Box.
I'd trade every other sport's remote relevance if you could just tell me we could move basketball's importance one smidgen up the ladder. March Madness is killing me knowing once again, I gotta watch Florida, Kentucky, Vandy, and Alabama go dancing.
