UNC-Asheville is historically underseeded at a 16, and Syracuse just lost Melo. I already had them losing to Kansas State the next round, any chance UNC-Asheville pulls it off in the first?

Every year someone brings this up and every year I remember "blocked by Mourning" and the disappointment everyone had...how the hell does a center block a 3-pointer? What a crappy screen.

it also happened to 16 seed Murray which went to OT vs Big Ten Champ and #1 seed Mich State who were led by Steve Smith, who went off big in the OT. Murray had Popeye who had 37 in defeat.

I think the 1-16 upset will be completely unexpected - out of nowhere like Coppin over Texas.

Yea Asheville is a borderline top 100 rpi team.

Been a couple years since a 16th seeded team gave a No. 1 seed a real good shot.
But it's always the same if it is even close. They run out of gas.
Here are the best performances by 16th seeded teams
No team as a #16 seed has ever defeated a #1 seed since the field was expanded to 64 teams, though on four occasions, a #16 seed has come within a single basket of winning:
While ultimately Murray State lost to Michigan State by 4 points in 1990, they were the only #16 team to ever take a game into overtime.
Princeton lost to Georgetown in 1989 (1 point, 50–49)
East Tennessee State lost to Oklahoma in 1989 (1 point, 72–71)
Western Carolina lost to Purdue in 1996 (2 points, 73–71)

Connecticut was down by like 7 with 11 minutes left against a 16 seed like 5 years ago.

It was about 5 years ago because I used to play as Albany in College Basketball 2K8 with how you had to start as a lower school then work your way up and they were pretty good in that which caused me to watch their game
