Is it even possible for us to be better next year?

I recorded every game last year and have watched them over and over because I love to see how dominant that team was. While I'm looking forward to 2012, it seems unlikely that a team can top the 2011 season.
I think we have the horses, but team chemistry is a tough dynamic to replicate. That's the part that worries me the most.

We could not get owned in only game that mattered??

On offense I think we can be significantly more dynamic, if not better.
Defense is up in the air. Those boys were straight nasty during most games. They won't be an easy act to follow. Tyrann should be proud to match last year's performance. Claiborne and Brockers will be tough to replace.

what should be an easier schedule with a better oline, better qb play that will make the receivers more effective, better rb's, more athletic linebackers, a great kicking game and excellent coverage teams. someone has to step up to replace Brockers, Adams and Mo. we could be very, very awesome....time will tell.

The running game was so good it masked the fact we were one-dimensional - although less so with Lee in. The "Game of the Century" exposed Lee, and thusly the team, although we won the game. Once Jefferson was back to being the full-time starter, we saw all of the things we could not do from the QB position.
If we're just in the top half of the conference passing, and top 40 nationally - the defense can even have a slight drop over where they were in the regular season and we will have an even more dominating looking team in 2012.
I look at the schedule and I worry about Bama, Auburn and Arkansas (and maybe Florida) - same as always.

Your DVR was full so the BCSCG wouldn't fit?

Well, when you start breaking down units, I think its possible. D-line should be better. Yeah, we replace Brockers, but there is some talent there, and I think penetration and sacks improve. DE's will get bigger and stronger, and I expect the b/u's at DE to be more than solid. Line backers will be a big step up from last year, and will make the biggest step up IMO. Offense should be better at every level. The line is going to be sick, with quality b/u's(although young). The only unit I question is WR, and the lack of a go-to guy,but the running game should create big opportunities, and Mett will find them. The area I'm most worried about is DB's which has been our strength for 2 years(Hard to replace Brooks, Claiborne, and Taylor). If they show up like last year, its going to be a year to remember.

Without question...and while your comment re: chemistry bears mentioning as a good point, I'd say that the 2011 team dealt with Shady's, as well as a huge internal decision about the starting quarterback job just as they were heading into the heart of their regular season schedule.
It could've completely destroyed most teams, and the LSU train kept on rolling into New Orleans (Where it obviously derailed in unfortunate fashion).
I'm sure this team is going to be much, much hungrier & even more tightly knit because the divisiveness of the QB issue isn't there. If we stay okay off-the-field, and healthy on it, we'll be improved without question.

My thought:
Defense might be 1 notch worse if t all, which still puts them about a mile ahead of anyone out there not named Bama. Since Bama had a ton of turnover this year, we'll probably be better than them too.
Offense, id say with a QB that can throw, and th Oline in place, we'll be several notches better... by several, i mean like 4 or 5.
Which is scary considering we scored like 30+ in most games.
what the hell is an notch? i have no idea.
Overall, we will clearly be a better team, mostly due to the emergence of a passing game that can carry LSU if needed.

I'm jealous you get to watch all the games over and over. I recorded all of them but my DVR crashed on me and I lost everything, even the 2011 Cotton bowl!! Does anyone know if we can buy the games somewhere?

Yes ,have qb now. Up to miles to open up the o.
Posted on 3/8/12 at 9:42 am to inebr8ted tiger
If our defense is slightly worse and our offense is slightly better we will be better than last year IMO.
