How many flags were thrown for illegal hits?
Also, how many people were penalized after the game for excessive violence. The answer is none. In fact the NFL looked into that game after the major uproar of Vikings pussies and they ruled that the hits were legal. So i guess I'm sorry the Saints hit too hard for football.

Which is legit, just like getting physical with a WR. But the Saints were simply trying to prevent Favre from finishing the game at full health. Good move obviously.
you dont think the vikings were trying to take out brees?

I mean I get it. Just assume everyone else plays dirty to make yourself feel better.

its football, everybody plays dirty. I dont need to feel better about it, I really dont care. I honestly laughed out loud when I read the snippet of the article.

Yes, obviously. Also, a link to players that matter (Josh Freeman doesnt count) saying the Saints played dirtier than any other team they played.

This whole situation is blown so stupidly out of proportion and the media and the NFL are trying to scapegoat the Saints.
This right here! All these so call experts need to take a step back, take a deep breath and really calm the fricked down. It is football, it is a violent, violent game. It is time for Goodell to go!!!!!
If you join the Military you know there is a very good chance that you could go to war and die. If you play football, more so at the professional level, you know that you might die, you might get seriously hurt or you might get the frick knocked out!

Wow. So EVERY TEAM IN THE NFL knew they couldn't just play the game to win, they had to take out the leader of the better team. Shameful way to win a game, but I guess when you are a desperate franchise like EVERY TEAM IN THE NFL you have to do whatever you can to win.
FIFY
I love the people who know nothing about what really goes on in NFL football games come here and point out the failings of the players for shameful tactics. It doesn't matter that Marcellus Wiley and Mike Golic were talking just this morning how every defensive player in the NFL is trying to take out the opposing team's top players in order to win the game. Stop acting as if you know something when it's clear you know nothing.
ETA: with the exception of a few ex player analysts, it is mostly journalists who have never played the game that are waxing morally about the Saints' bad behavior. Most ex players that I've heard or read about are saying this is common place and accepted as part of the game.

bullshite. McCray was for the play that injured Favre's ankle. Truly fanatics...

It's funny how Peter King did this article and he was a season ticket holder during this time frame as well as a guest for the pre game dinners during the playoffs.

So I take it King interviewed the Snitch to get the "Give it back" quote?
Sharper has remained steadfast in his defense of the alleged Vilma $10K statement. It's tough to believe that much money was put down from one player.

Ok I'm sorry. One player for one hit in one game that the "victim" didnt argue about or feel the need to cry about. Your right. Our bounty pool was a vicious hell of a horrible thing.

Worth it for a Superbowl, IMHO.
you act like bounties had a impact on the superbowl win.
I beg to differ.

No... He wasn't you dumb shite. The only flag that was thrown the entire playoffs for unnecessary roughness was on McCray for hitting Favre on the reverse to Harvin.

It's not uncommon for a coach, especially a losing one, to send several plays for the league to review after a game. Eight is a lot. And the league, led by then-vice president of officiating Mike Pereira, did look into them. Pereira found only one of the hits to be a play that, in his opinion, should have been flagged: the high-low hit by Saints linemen Bobby McCray and Remi Ayodele late in the third quarter on a play Favre rushed, threw an interception and was hit after he released the ball.
That play, clearly, should have been flagged by referee Pete Morelli. The league admitted it a couple days later, and ended up fining McCray $20,000 for that play and another earlier in the game when he drove himself into Favre after a handoff. (A handoff, mind you; not a pass. How often have you seen unnecessary roughness called on a defensive player for hitting the quarterback after a handoff? I can't recall ever seeing that, aside from this play.)
Keep defending the dirty tactics if you want, but it's obvious to everyone else. Bottom line, you did what you needed to do to win the game.

This whole thing is crazily blown out of proportion. I can remember this at the high school level, except with pizzas, not money. Football is violent and i think everyone understands that.
Id bet if money wasn't involved as a reward, this would be a non issue.

That flag was thrown. But he was fined for that hit (where Favre was in the way) and the low hit on Favre in the third quarter.
But I'm pretty sure the rule that you can't hit a QB at or below the knee was approved after the 2005 season when Carson Palmer and a few other QBs got hurt. So I don't know if it would have been an illegal hit before that.
