The 4th quarter of the NBA All-Star game is great. They really tighten up and play harder (especially defensively) for that $$$.

That being said, MLB is the best in my opinion because it is meaningful. I've always enjoyed the NBA from the player introductions through the whole game. The NFL pro bowl... get real.

No. MLB is legit if you actually like baseball.

I like baseball and I don't give a shite about the game. Before the rule, the game was a farce because the players and managers didn't give a shite. Now it's a farce because it stupidly determines home field advantage to make the players give a shite, which is a joke.

football players take a week off between games, back to backs are a big deal for NBA'ers. A day off is a luxury for MLB. GTFO

I could swing a bat 10 times and run 10 yards 10 times every day too.

Could I play one full NBA or NFL game? not even close.

Baseball is the best because the game actually has meaning. The winner (NL or AL) gets home field advantage for the World Series. So even tho the players are out having fun they are still playing for a purpose. Its also an entire weekend like basketball.

Each sport wears down the body differently. Football is the most physically demanding sport with crushing hits.
Baseball wears down the joints esp elbows and shoulders.
Basketball has a lot of contact, but not like football. Basketball is hard on the hips, knees, and ankles.
Soccer is very hard on knees and ankles.
Hockey is like football with the hits, but faster and not as many.

Baseball is the best all star game bc you don't have to be physical to play defense unlike all the other sports.

I don't blame pro athletes for not playing all star games at 100%. You don't get that fat contract for what you did in the all star game, but you can certainly end your career in one.

Yes, by far.

I think having the All-Star game determine home-field in baseball may have been a decent idea looking back on things. We all thought it was stupid, but maybe they were ahead of the game in terms of seeing how irrelevant all-star games were becoming in the 4 major sports.

The MLB All-Star game is by far the most watchable, despite baseball on the decline in popularity. There has to be some reason for that. Obviously the fact that it's still real baseball (as opposed to no blitzing in the Pro Bowl and no defensive effort in the NBA all-star game) has something to do with it, but I think it's also a little bit deeper than that.

No its not it is a terrible idea. The Rangers were 6 games better then St. Louis and the Rangers won their division. The Cardinals had no business having home field advantage. Do you think its fair that home field was determined by a total of 7 players that played in the World Series? If it was in Texas last year, there is a good chance the Rangers win the World Series.

I'm not arguing that it's fair.

If it isn't fair, then it isn't the best method. Sure the fans get a good show, but its more about the players to hang out with each other on a fun weekend and not get hurt. Not play for home field advantage for the biggest series of the year when only less then 20% of the players play in the game. It's somewhat more exciting, but I would rather a team be rewarded for the complete season, and that is why its not one of the better ones. The correct answer is none of the all-star games are the best.

I somewhat agree, but in this day in age it's not always about being fair.

And I would also add, nowadays its more about the fans, when it should be more about the players. That is why the leagues care more about ratings for their all-star game then putting a good product on the field of play. Professional leagues started as a place where the best athletes of their respected sports competed against each other, and thats how it still should be today, just with millions of people watching.
