My bosses daughter shot a few different federal rounds before she got tired of it and got a .308

Those hunters were obviously GDIs. Had they been frat, like myself, the bullets would have gone straight on through.

Youre obviously not going to take anything I say seriously. Get a tracking dog and get out there and see what results people are having for yourself. Or just keep thinking I'm an idiot.

.243 is NF. 7mm mag or bigger are the only acceptable fratty deer calibers IMO

My wife shoots a .243 with great results. She has been hunting for the last ten years with it. I don't think you could pry it away from her. I think the main thing is that in the youth model 7, it is a perfect fit for her and she is comfortable shooting it. I know she shoots corelok's. I think 120 grain. I would personally prefer the 7mm-08. But that would be my preference. Get her something she is comfortable with, and teach her how to shoot it. Make her take a hunters education course. Women that have never fired a rifle before can become very good at it. My wife is proof of that. Carry on the battle now !!

Since you are worried about the scope cutting your wife....
Look at rifles with a Monte Carlo Stock (easier to lock chin onto stock and absorb recoil) and look at scopes with a solid rubber ring (no cut if bumps face/nose) with good eye relief (allowing scope tube to be mounted farther up). Couple that with a rifle over say 7.5 pounds and the recoil should be manageable. I think a really light rifle (youth model) will increase recoil...

As far as caliber goes....Well, there are 7 pages of opinion on that.

The 120gr core lokts are the best we've found yet out of the .243. Obliterated a fox with it this season

Never heard of anyting over 105 in .243.

Midway sells a 115, but then you would have to reload.

Seems like remington usually loads heavy for caliber bullets in small calibers. They load 120gr .25-06 core locks which was the heaviest i remember seeing.

It sounded big, so I assumes I was right. Whatever the biggest you can get on the shelf at Academy is what he uses

Maybe so, but I seriously doubt you'll find a 120. Just think if they did though...Hmmmmm

The 115 DTAC. If you want to see what is winning non square range matches around the country.

Its a 115 DTAC or 105 gr Berger Hybrid. Fast as shite and cuts through the wind better then anything out to 1000.

I dont know shite about hunting though. I know my 260 with a brake isnt bad at all.

7mm-08 hands down. Anything else is just not a smart decision IMO.

243s have led me on some wild goose chases in the middle of the night for sure. I am not a 243 fan and that can't be changed, so it's hard to give an unbiased opinion.
