The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board is honoring Ryan Perrilloux at its meeting tonight, The Times-Picayune reports. Perrilloux, an East St. John High School graduate who was booted off the LSU squad by Les Miles in 2008, made the trip last month to the Super Bowl as a member of the practice squad for the New York Giants. At 25, the LaPlace resident and member of the Giants' practice squad has already experienced some of the best and worst that life has to offer. And it didn't always seem that being a member of a Super Bowl–winning team, in any role, would be in the cards. Read the full feature here.
WOW!!!

I don't get it. Does this have to do with ringtones or old videos?

Maybe he's straightened himself out. I haven't heard of him getting in any jams since he's been with the NYG.

What's the problem racist?
Really what? You think he doesn't work his arse off as hard as any of the guys on the active roster? You think his teammates don't see him a valuable part of the team?

good for him , glad he's finally getting his life put together, that is what we want for him right?

And Tom Coughlin doesn't play around when it comes to discipline. Especially with a practice squad guy. If the Giant s had an inkling that RP wasn't doing the right things, they'd cut his arse (permanently) in a New York minute. Pun intended. People don't like to hear about young men turning their lives around though.

Now we can contemplate what this award says about SJB Parish...

I read somewhere that Perrilloux would be the scout team's quarterback as the team practiced implementing their game plan for the next opponent. So yes, I can understand his comments even though he only played a small role on the Giants team.

Sadly, no.

Well, there are other reasons this story doesn't play well around here too.

It says a player from their parish was on a Superbowl teams and they're honoring him for it.

Has nothing to do with race. Dude was a discipline problem. Yes, he may be turning he's life around, but I really don't think he's deserving of being "honored".
I'm sure the SJSB has more successful role models to honor.

not at East St John. Kid was a standout student and athlete for a school in a small parish and now part of a superbowl championship.
