What exactly about him made you think he was duel threat chief?

Same measurables as Rivers, yet gets called a duel-threat...

He has some talent and potential but many SEC coaches question whether he can play QB or not.

He was considered a Auburn lock before Gus left. He is supposed to visit with their new OC and we will see how that goes.

I think the new OC wants to go in a new direction and don't know if Jeremy fits into that equation.

I still think ends up at Auburn.

Barrett and Mitch>>>>>>> Johnson

I am amazed at how comfortable we have become at saying things like this. Why wouldn't you want to have someone that can do both (run and throw). Threat implies that both must be viable options.

And if you name Brady, Brees, and the Mannings keep in mind that there is a reason we know their names, all of them could play into their forties and be kept on a roster somewhere, and have coaches who wish wouldn't pass up the option of them being more mobile for fear of the label dual-threat.

He's black, though. How is that possible?

I know you are supposed to be some type of recruiting guru to the new guys on here. But looking at all 3 of their films I don't know how you could make such a statement.

Agree. Johnson is the most talented of those 3. Barrett is the most sure thing and the more dual threat guy. Mitch gets the nod because he looks like what most people want their qbs to look like. If Tyrone Swoopes is a QB then so is Johnson. I personally like Barrett more than the others but that stems from the fact that I want a QB that is almost college ready. Don't want all projects at that position. I like Mitch and wouldn't mind if he were in our class but I'm not completely sold that he's a top flight, can't miss type qb.

I am not that high on Johnson because he is a project. He doesn't look extremely accurate, the ball comes out awkwardly sometimes, and his mechanics look a little funky.
Barrett would be my ideal QB for this class but he is a long shot in my opinion.
Connor Mitch put on a show at the Army Combine and has a great arm. Very accurate. I am very high on him.
I also like Riley Ferguson, hes got a great arm and looks very mobile. I was very impressed watching his highlights.

Barrett>Mitch>Ferguson>Johnson

They are all very close but thats how I would rate them right now.

He's going to Auburn. His high school coach is now a GA at AU.

No argument with that order. In all honesty if I were ranking them in order of how much I'd want them at LSU, my order would be exactly the same. I basically have Mitch and Ferguson about even. Extra bonus for Ferguson because his school is always loaded with talent and would be nice to get even a little "in" with that school.

Just from reading this thread and not watching a second of film, it sounds like if he flips his number over we will have four more years of JJ9 at QB. An athlete that is a better passer than runner but the coaches make him run. Therefore do not want. That way the coaches don't have the option to give us four more years JJ9.

To be honest it is very unlikely that he will be Loeffler's #1 or even #2 target at QB. Barring an unexpected early departure Auburn is only going to take 1 QB in 2013; and they have recently thrown out offers to numerous quarterbacks across the country.

Yeah, Loeffler has offered a good amount of other QBs since he was hired. Personally, I like Cooper Bateman and Hayden Rettig more than JJ, Bateman being my favorite so far

And just to back you up, pretty much everything you said in your analysis of JJ is accurate. He's a project with a very high ceiling. He's kinda accurate, but not where a college QB needs to be, and his mechanics need a lot of work like you said. But he does throw a beautiful deep ball and will probably wind up being a good QB if he sticks with football and has time to develop.

I say if he sticks with football because he's just as good at basketball, and I wouldn't be surprised if he winded up playing that in college

Matt Flynn was very athletic and he mostly threw the ball. Your argument doesnt stand up. Running was JJs best strength. I'm pretty sure if we get a good dual threat QB (like Flynn) who can throw well (like Flynn) then Miles will let him throw more (like Flynn). Miles had a very good dual threat QB at OSU before he came to LSU (Woods?) and he threw much more than ran. It amazes me how everyone forgets everything before JJ came along.

It sounds like Johnson likes Auburn but they might not be as high on him. So yes there is a chance. We have gotten good players that way also i.e. Spencer Ware.
