the texans shouldnt make a move based on schaub's feelings. trade him away if he cant handle it

your talking about j-ville. peyton manning isnt looking for more paychecks. hes looking for teams who can win super bowls immediately. j-ville may have the money, but they lack the most important thing: an already built to win now team.

They have a solid defense and a great running back. What held them back this year was terrible QB play.

are you on the team? let me guess, youre friends with a few players and they all tell you this?

How would you like it if your boss was looking for someone to replace your friend even though he was doing his job well enough. I'm sure you would enjoy your friend from work getting fired because the boss found someone better.

that was my point the entire time. If you want to go the Manning route, you have to go all in with it and get rid of Schaub. You cant just stick him on the bench, that would kill the team chemistry

And youd be a little pissed to if your boss just demoted you after exceptional work for the past 5 years. Stop acting like Schaub would be eing selfish in that situation

I'd be a professional about it and do my damn job. Not let my personal feelings get in the way. That's assuming everyone on the team is best buds with Schaub in the first place.

exceptional work

Pretty loose definition of exceptional. He's been good, but don't get ahead of yourself. There's about 5 or 6 QB's I consider exceptional in the NFL, and Schaub isn't one of them. But I agree, if they actually did want Manning, they would obviously have to get rid of Schaub. They could probably get a solid haul of picks for him too in a trade.

I'd seriously consider trying to get another job somewhere else with job security. Why wouldn't the team be best buds with Schaub. They are the best team in their division right now.

i cant say it wouldnt affect me, it would piss me off to no end, but i would let it fuel me into being a better player-- if anything just to prove them wrong. then move on when i could as a FA

Bull frickin shite.

Theres another 5 or so jobs out there willing to give you the position you had before your boss decided you were good enough and your not going to want to jump to that job?

job security

Job security +NFL does not compute. It's a cutthroat league, players get cut all the time. And just because they had a good year I don't think you can assume everyone is best friends on the team.

and they almost went to the afc championship with their 3rd string qb. If I was a player on the Texans right now I'd believe they could get to the super bowl with Schaub.

its the NFL. they are always trying to find someone better. its called the draft. try to find a better comparison than some $50K/yr job where theres 5000 of them across the country. its the NFL and performance matters. its cruel, it can be unfair, but thats the trade off when youre making millions.

How can you say Peyton Manning will be healthy for a full season after coming off neck surgery. The point I'm trying to make is there will be ramifications for the Texans if they go after Peyton Manning. How many teams look to upgrade starters who aren't old and has played well.

Its not about Schaub's feelings you nincompoop. Peyton Manning is pissed off at Indy, you know why he won't be there next year? BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW IF HE WILL BE HEALTHY! Why is that so fricking hard for you to understand? There is no guarentee you get the old P Manning or even 90% of him. You don't discard a younger, pro bowl QB, on a playoff team to take a flyer on a QB that MIGHT be better. If you had a older washed up vet like 2008 Minnesota ok. If you have questionable guys that haven't done much, like Az, Miami, Seattle or the 2007 Jets, ok. If it was Yates only, then yes, take the flyer, but that's not where we are.

What you are talking about is a fantasy football move. This is the real world.
