Texans turned a great defense to go with their great running game this year. With Shaub, they probably beat the ravens and are at least competitve against the patriots. But Shaub is not Peyton. I would do this in a heartbeat.

Who has more of a say where Manning goes the Colts or Peyton Manning. If the Colts are in charge of this I don't see how they allow Manning to head over to the Texans.

Not really. They cant trade him so the only way to control where he goes is by keeping him

But, there's NO WAY they're going to give him the $28 million next month. And, everyone knows this.

My guess is that Manning has spoken with the Colts people and they have O.K.'d him looking around and putting out some feelers.

Rampant speculation is not the same as a rumor, for what it's worth.

If Peyton manning is healthy, they would be stupid to pick schaub over him IMO

This is thee real world is not fanstasy football.

If we are talking about 2009 Peyton Manning he wouldn't be available anyway.

I seriously doubt it. Schaub is a good NFL qb and the Texans are poised to make a deep playoff run next year. I just don't see them taking a risk on Peyton Manning. I'm sure the Texans would pick up the phone if Manning calls but I just don't see them pulling the trigger.
as a texan fan, i am totally in favor of peyton to the texans with one caveat: hes healthy enough to play. obviously we have no idea where he is now or where he'll be in 8 months. but 90% of the peyton manning weve seen in the last 6 years is significantly better than anything schaub has ever dreamed of.

schaub is a nice player, but has injury concerns of his own. 3 of the last 5 seasons hes missed significant time(5+ games), so hes not exactly reliable. a 5th rd rookie has more playoff wins and appearances than schaub. and this year is the last on his contract, so its not like taking on peyton manning would leave our franchise QB on the back burner in the middle of his contract. it actually works on perfectly. keep schaub for the year as insurance for peyton's neck. after a year, theyll know more and reevaluate.

the 3 most important questions are:
1. is he healthy enough to play at a high level?

2. is he willing to run kubiak's offense and run the ball more than he has in the past?
3. is he willing to take an incentive laden contract, b/c the texans dont have the cap room to give him $28M/yr

and lets not rule out bob mcnair in all this. getting peyton manning would turn the texans into a national story, and bob is all about getting attention.

Don't use that to knock Schaub he was very essential in getting the texans to the playoffs for the very first time in their franchises history.

Do you seriously think the Texans are going to pay Schaub and Manning plus do you think Schaub is going to accept being a backup? If the Texans get Manning Schaub is as good as gone.

if peyton manning is expendable, i can assure you that matt schaub is, too.

He can half arse practice collect his paycheck and move on or the Texans will release him. If he would get on the field what would be his motivation to play for a team that gave up on him.

That's pretty much what I said with Schaub

That causes all kinds of bad chemistry you dont want.

You take a guy thats been on the team that long, hes bound to have friends and support in that lockerroom. You shite on that and you can lose your team especially if there is a divide between Peyton guys or Schaub guys

bigger contract once he hits the open market? whats the going rate for average QBs who half-arse their way through games b/c they are pouting? theyre pros. its business.
