As if we didn’t know, even with all the festivities, this is a business. And we just got another reminder.
A mere 24 hours before the Super Bowl, the Patriots made their final transaction in a year full of them. In one of the coldest moves ever, the Patriots released WR Tiquan Underwood and promoted DE Alex Silvestro.
This all but guarantees that WR Chad Ochocinco will be active. And while you have to feel for Underwood, who must be devastated, he will almost certainly get a ring if they win the Super Bowl.
ouch..

They were college teammates at rutgers too.

It's possible they wanted an extra defensive lineman available for this game, possibly a potential illness situation or something. If Silvestro is one of the 7 inactives for the game, this move may be more difficult to understand, in terms of the timing, because they could just have easily made Underwood one of the inactives. Watch to see if Silvestro is on the active list.
There are two other possibilities:
1. Underwood broke curfew last night
2. Belichick wanted to reward Silvestro for doing a great job on the Scout squad the past two weeks, pressuring Brady strongly and helping prep the OL.
Even for Belichick, it would make no sense at all to do something like this just for the hell of it.

He wasnt inactive all season. Underwood has played more of a role this post season than Ocho

Yet another reason why that franchise can go frick itself. I don't give a shite what the guy does or what his talent level is, you don't release him the day before the Super Bowl.
If I were the Giants, I'd snatch him up as a "consultant" and tell him to bring his Patriots playbook with him.
