Well people still can't spell Russell Shepard rt. Or Mettenberger. But they know more than les miles does on how to run a program.

He looks like he should be a good one. I was going to ask you guys about him as I read an article on him from yesterday where he said he had TCU as his top choice before being offered by LSU. Of course, now he is all LSU but found that interesting to see TCU was at the top of his list compared to some of the other SEC schools. Not to alarm anyone but it does look like he has to do some work in the classroom to get qualified but it looks very doable.
A couple questions for all the LSU fans, does LSU normally offer early someone who is a possible grade risk? How often does LSU have someone not qualify academically and has this changed at all since the SEC put that cap of 25 players signed per year?

Les Miles has taken more caution on academics risks than he did when he first came on board. This caused Darrington Sentimore and Eddie Lacy to leave the state because they were slow played due to academics. 2012 TE John Thomas isn't allowed to sign his LOI until he gets academically cleared, otherwise LSU would be at 23 signees instead of 22. In previous years, he would've been told to go ahead and sign and then they will see what happens. This 25 player cap sucks for the programs that follow it. I don't know how Bama is able to circumvent this so easily.
I noticed Patterson has done a good job in getting LA guys interested in TCU whenever LSU doesn't offer. Solid recruiting tactics but detrimental to MSU and Arkansas.

Will TCU try and keep the WM momentum going next year? 3 DL in 2 years, hope the trend continues.

I haven't heard anything yet but its very early. TCU has offered two folks from Louisiana but these are probably guys that everyone will offer in John Diarse and Melvin Jones. I am sure TCU would like to continue the trend at WM.
It will probably come down to needs and whether they feel they will need to go out of state to fill those needs. That said, I think you will definitely see them hit Louisiana and Georgia hard after getting 4 recruits from them last year. TCU has a junior day coming up at the end of the month so I will let you know if any WM players are invited. The good news is that TCU is pretty stingy with their offers so if they offer a player it means they did their homework and think highly of them.

Thanks for the info. I think LSU is playing it right. My guess is they feel Lawson will have no trouble qualifying if they offered then. As for Bama, I wouldn't be surprised if they get to those numbers because they are running people out of the program. In Big12 country, UT and OU have a reputation for that. UT had 14 people leave their program last year alone.

TCU has a couple of coaches that have ties to Louisiana as either they grew up there, coached there or played in the state. Plus, GP's staff has had very little turnover over the last 10 years so they have had time to develop some relationships with the LA high school coaches. I am sure that has helped get their name out. It probably also doesn't hurt that TCU has been to a couple of BCS games recently and is going to the Big12.
It should be interesting this year to see who TCU goes after and which ones LSU may also end up offering. I had a sneaking suspicion that LSU may have offered Kavahra Holmes last year partly after TCU got excited about him. It might just have been a coincidence but LSU ended up offering I think a week after his visit to TCU.

I'm not sure Holmes would've gotten an offer if he wasn't a track star. Our staff is willing to bring in developmental prospects if they have elite speed. I noticed the trend over the years of TCU bringing in guys who are tweeners and are overlooked by other programs because of it. Patterson would bring in an oversized RB and turn him into a DE who has speed to burn on the edges.

If TCU offers a kid that has the ideal size, physical attributes then any coaching staff or fan would do well to pay attention. I'm sure our coaching staff doesn't watch TCU's offer list but there is comaraderie and respect in coaching and Patterson and company have a great reputation for eveluating talent. Same with Baylor and Briles. They can spot the talent but have a hard fight to get it on campus. Lathan,Mcfarland and Hunter are good prospects and good gets for TCU.

So sine a commitment is a noncommitment would that make this noncommitment a commitment?

I learned one more thing today which is that TCU will be taking a small class next year with projections at about 13 to 16 players. I don't know how this will affect offers but my guess is you may see less than there was last year.

Here, is an article that points out what Alabama is about and what they are willing to do on the recruiting trail. Schools like LSU and others just need to create a scrapbooking pointing out how Alabama treats recruits and start educating the high school coaches and recruits. Unfortunately, too many recruits will still think it won't happen to them.

Exactly! Even if Saban was dismissing 15-25 players every single year from Bama's team just to make room for new recruits, it wouldn't affect their recruiting because every single elite high school prospect would say "It won't happen to me. I'm better than that."
High school kids are not known for making the best long term life decisions and will always have the invincible attitude.

There is a 10 page thread on the SEC recruiting board that has Bama fans placing the blame on Auburn for not picking up Philon after Saban dropped him. Philon dropped Auburn to go to Bama and now the Bama folks are saying Auburn was wrong for not scooping him up on the rebound.
