Don't take Miles for granted....

Call me a homer or whatever, but since a fair few on this board love to bash on Miles and are never happy about the program, I decided to look at the best coaches that CFB has seen in the past decade or so at the school where they had their best run of winning.
The coaches were:
Nick Saban (Alabama) -------55-12 (82.09%) 11
Urban Meyer (Florida) --------65-15 (81.25%) 10.83
Jim Tressel (Ohio State) ----95-22 (81.20%) 10.56
Pete Carroll (USC) -----------83-19 (81.37%) 9.22
Mack Brown (Texas) ---------141-39 (78.33%) 10.07
Bob Stoops (Oklahoma) ----139-34 (80.34%) 10.69
Les Miles (LSU) ----------------76-18 (80.85%) 10.86
I think it's safe to say that these coaches have been widely reguarded as the best coaches in CFB during their respective tenures. The numbers next to them are overall records, winning %, and avg. # wins per season.
Call me a sunshine pumper or whatever, but for all you negatigers that call yourselves "realists", these numbers are real. Les Miles is at the same level as all these recent CFB coaches from the most successful AQ schools in the past 10 years or so.
We all get aggravated at some of the coaching decisions for whatever team we are invested in no matter what the sport. That said, if you are a LSU fan, you should enjoy the fact that your current head coach is one of the best coaches is CFB currently. If you keep taking Miles for granted, one day he will leave (for another job, retirement, etc.) and we will be hoping that the next coach comes in and gets the same results. Even though we all get mad, let's not forget how good we have it right now.
Somebody said it best on the recruiting board...
Miles is part genius, part idiot, and all tiger!
PS - Yes it is late and I wasted my time doing this becasue I was curious and figured I would share. I do have a life, but at 12:30am you think of random shite to do.

I agree with you.
It's strange that all that gets "forgotten."

Nice, good post.
But we gotta beat Saban.
Next season in Tiger Stadium should help a bit.

I wouldn't trade Les for any coach in the nation. He's led our program to an elite level and kept it there. With JJ gone we eliminate a huge hole at QB and Les wins his 2nd BCS Championship next year

I love CLM & always have. My opinions did not change of him after the NCG. Every coach makes mistakes along their careers. This will only make him better.
The grass isn't always greener on the other side. I remind myself of this every time I question what CLM is thinking.

Awesome thread. Thanks for sharing the numbers.
Coach Miles is welcome to stay as long as he wants IMO.

Nothing on this planet is quite as sweet as beating the snot out of elite teams with elite coaches with a coach that is bat-shite crazy. Sure being bat-shite crazy can bite you in the arse, but more often then not it works for Les and LSU. I'm in!

Great post. Since the numbers don't lie look how far we have made it in this thread withot the idiots trying to be negative about it.

Nice post!
You can add that since 2005 LSU has the most wins among BCS programs and the most SEC wins...43-17 or 79%.
When you top all BCS programs in wins, all SEC programs in wins, and you winning/playing for SEC titles and national titles in your career at a school, why all the BS complaining and lack of apprecation???

very nice post, my only frustration with miles is his usage of jj during this past season and his lack of usage of jl during the last half of this past season. our lack of developing a decent qb (except for flynn/jr) has been amazing and yet able to win the games we've had.

Miles is all Tiger because he didn't get the Michigan offer he wanted at the end of the '07 season. All coaches are whores, remember that.

You know this is all well and good, and most of us know that *CLM is a good, maybe even a great coach (sometimes). But given this fact, it doesn't mean we can't be frustrated out of our minds (given his high standing on your percentage chart) when he and his team turns in a performance like they did on January 9th.
