Good article comparing this year's class to that of last year's class (who most thought was outstanding).

Jeez. I avoided the "did they lie about...." thread, so I didn't realize Davis was THAT intentional about misleading LSU. If you don't want to go, don't go, but come on.

Good stuff

Ultimately the reason why we missed out on player's that we "thought" we were getting, or having player's commit and leave....was pretty simple. We are loaded at every position, and that means a lot of competition for playing time. Looks like the ones that left wanted to play right away, and shy away from competition. Good riddance, I want players that want to bleed purple and gold, and not shy away from competition. We will be fine, and I feel that we are going to look back on this class and say "Wow...I can't believe he was a 3* recruit???"

Excellent link and read. I've been arguing the class is not highly ranked nationally because LBers, TEs and SNPs (which are the primary strengths of this class) aren't gaudy like Top 5 QBs, RBs, WRs, OTs and CBs are - the article you linked seems to illustrate that there is little difference in quality between 2011 and 2012. Jeremy Hill notwithstanding (and he is not consistently counted in this class), we accomplished the ranking we have without an anchor (like Gunner Kiel, Landon Collins, Mario Edwards or Tracy Howard would have been - just getting 1 of those players we missed on would have made this class #7 or so, even losing Davis).

Good article. I think LSU signed a pretty good group of kids. I would rather trust the decision of a coaching staff that sees the kids at camp and at games than some guy trying to sell magazines or internet subscriptions.

my point exactly. We only need about 10 horses in each class to EVER contribute. Ergo, I look at how many 4+ stars we get as a rough indicator of the likelihood that we can get 10 horses, realizing that 3 stars and below will sometimes be among those 10 horses. By that standard, which is close to what is being said in this article, we be good!
