"A guy will throw a couple balls in a row, and [Dunn] will say one thing to him," Ross said. "Before you know it, the next three pitches are right on target. He just works really well with the guys, and I think he's going to make a huge impact for us this season."

The pitchers have gone through a rigorous training method to get their bodies in top shape before the grueling season officially begins — much of it under Dunn's watch. "He's been working us hard," Gausman said. "This is the best shape that all of our pitchers have ever been in. We always joke that we run more than the track team."
"He has this way about the kids," Mainieri said. "The way he coaches them, the way he works with them … it's a lesson every day. He puts on a clinic with those kids."
And from Nola.com LINK
quote:
"His baseball IQ is awesome," said starting pitcher Kevin Gausman. "It's been great to work with him, the way he carries himself. He's got that swagger. He really brought the pitching staff together. We all feel really comfortable and have a good relationship with him."
quote:
Mainieri said he, Dunn and former Coach Skip Bertman have met several times to discuss the nuances and that Dunn will likely call about 75 percent of the pitches, the rest going to the catcher.

So a pitching coach with an actual background in pitching helps? Who knew? #wontmissgrewe

OT but when I get to lsu in 09 I never would of guessed so many kids read the newspaper. I know TDR is just a school paper but its better than nothing. I figured I was one of a handful of kids who still read the newspaper.

This coupled with Paul reading money ball might be the factors that get us over the new hump with the new bats.
