Jameis Winston, any chance he commits to LSU?

“@ScottRabalais: RT @LauraMcKeeman: After eliminating #OhioSt, Jameis Winston says finalists are #FSU, #Bama, #LSU and MLB. He visits FSU this weekend.”

Baseball or FSU, probably baseball according to the bammer board last I checked.

We need to get him to visit again and Bama and FSU have been in this a long while.

#1 Player in the country that shows interest in us late. I'm going to say we have about the same chance that we had with Pryor and Brown.

I would agree with this (2% if we can create a two-sport program for him). Miles and Krags paid him a stop on the way back from the Kiel OV, and to be sure they talk regularly. Not impossible, not likely.
Would seriously change our ranking (especially if we get ME and TH, since we are dreaming) - probably not much else.

If he goes to Bama he will never play a down. His best bet to play footbal if he chooses to do so is at FSU.

He's not really a MLB lock, is he? I think people may be confusing him with Alford, who is expected to go in the first few rounds of the draft. Winston, last I heard, wasn't a top 10 round lock for MLB.

I've always heard that Winston liked LSU. Without Kiel, I'm sure we moved back into his thought process.
Jimbo hasn't really helped EJ Manuel take the next step as he was supposed to be a faster, smarter, better version of JaMarcus out of HS. Let's see if Krags can spin the reclamation project of Lee & the commitment of Mettsiah into something tangible to end the recruiting race here on a positive note.

Avery Johnson seems to think in conversations with him at the UA game I guess that Winston would have been ours already but that changed when Grewe was fired.
I know you build relationships with coaches, but I thought Dunn was a better pitching coach and had more experience than Grewe. Almost makes it sound like Dunn hasn't even contacted Winston and talked to him.

Lsu is the best fit out of all those schools with the offense les likes to run. That alone should give us a shot. We have been recruiting him for a while

That's Mario Edwards, no?

My thoughts exactly. I wasn't too impressed watching the UA game but maybe he is raw. I'd take him just to have a QB in this class. I doubt a QB would be able to play much baseball though given the football schedule. He would be around for May/June and that's about it.

Some MLB Scouts project that Jameis will be playing college football. Said that playing football and being very, very raw will hurt his draft stock.

Agreed. Definitely not the QB Bama fans try to make him out to be.
Completely unimpressed with him at the UA game.

This may be a stupid question, but could Winston come to LSU on a baseball scholly and be a dual sport athlete (baseball and football)?
If his baseball skills prove to be superior he could up his MLB value after one year with the Tigers BB team. If not he could then focus on football skills and make himself valuable to the NFL.
IDK, but it seems he may have more to gain by being a dual sport athlete for the Tigers for at least one year (where both the BB and FB programs compete and win championships on a "regular" basis as of late). At worse, he can end up in the NFL in 4 years as a high draft pick and at best he can end up in the MLB with a higher value contract in the spring of 2013 (assuming no injuries).

No, if you play football, you have to be on a football scholarship.

Will have to be three years out of high school to go to the NFL or MLB
Winston was easily the second best QB in both the all-star games behind Kiel, but if he is still raw and with Krag coaching the QBs, I would love to see Winston here

If you play football you must be on a football scholarship. Bear Bryant rule.
