Coppola 09 Malbec

Pretty good

I've heard it's not such a bad line of wines...heard the pinot noir is pretty great as well...may pick it up on the next trip.

ETA: Is this any drink or is this just beers? I don't know the acronym used in the thread title..

Wine is for pretentious pricks... GTFO now.

FBD = First Beer of the Day

BTW, the Coppola Pinot Noir is pretty good.

They have Hopitoulas and Chimay Tripel on tap, so that does it for me.

That'd be enough to keep me coming back.

Absolutely. TJR does not have a huge selection, but there are some gems in the mix.

the malbec is pretty tasty as well...the pinot is usually a few bucks more than the others for some reason....not sure why...oh well.

I didn't think the Le Mort Vivant was anything great
Really drinkable though

As ut said, FBD = First Beer of the Day. By definition beer, but it can be any drink IMO. My cousin coined the term. Wine is good and I love malbec. I am a big fan of malbecs from Argentina.

Brooklyn Local 1 rocks.

That's what I don't get about some big name places with poor beer selections. It doesn't take a comprehensive list to get in my good graces. Just give me a good IPA or two and a good Belgium ale and I'll be happy.

Yep. Just give us a couple of good beers. It is not that hard. These beers are readily available these days. Our tastes are similar. Broadly speaking, my 2 favorite styles are American IPAs and Belgian style ales.

Yeah I've had a couple of malbecs from this area. It was a while back though and can't remember the names. Malbec is definitely one of my favorites so I'll probably get a couple more next trip this week.

A couple of my favorites are Achaval-Ferrer and Luca. Both wineries make several great malbecs. They start around $25 and go up from there.

The Achaval-Ferrer should be pretty easy to find. Their regular Malbec Mendoza should cost around 24 bucks. Very good wine.

Quality wine at a fair price. Argentina is putting out some great stuff that can stand against many wines from France imho.

Yes tetu. Even though I am an OT baller, I look for values in wine and these are good wines and relative values. Plus, I have grown tired of drinking CA cabs that all taste the same.

Although I haven't had many, I've yet to have a cali cab that blew me away. Maybe I need to take suggestions?

There are some great ones. These days it is hard to find a great one that is not crazy expensive though. They are out there though.

ETA: I'll give you some recs IRL soon.

Yes tetu, that is their mardi gras beer.
My TBD was a New Glaurus (forget the name) honey bock
These damn lagers are sneaking their way in already. My SO grabbed a Rogue Good Chit pilsner from mathernes that I'll try tonight.
I still think its too early for them but my taste buds are already craving a SA noble pils or something like that. I don't know what's wrong with me.

Yesterday's FBD was a Westvleteren 12 about 10 minutes after I finished the Louisiana Marathon. (3:24:20 if you're wondering).

SBD was a Hoegaarden, followed by a Tin Roof Voodoo Bengal, then Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan. These 3 were all at the finish festival. Kudos to the Louisiana Marathon for choosing all local craft beers plus Hoegaarden instead of the usual BMC crap. They had all 3 Tin Roof beers, Bayou Teche LA 31 Biere Pale, Covington Strawberry and Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower as well. All of it was draft from a couple of the Mockler trucks.
