If we land Kiel and could get Collins, we could sign anyone with the remainder and I would be happy.

Saban hits the Top 3 almost every year.

We need to close strong

So much for the 25 rule. Bama may sign 30.

As for LSU, the finish:
Kiel
Collins
Phillips
Hill
JaVonte Magee

Bama hits top 3 While LSU hits top 5 each year. Combine that with the fact some La kids are undervalued due to film quality and I don't buy that we need to finish strong but just keep doing us. The separation between 3 and 5 is minuscule if any at all.

miles is getting schoolled by saban in recruiting right now. not only does he have top players from georgia committed but he is also stealing other programs top recruits..eg yeldon from auburn and taylor from fsu.

in comparison miles out of state recruiting is pretty dissapointing

avery - patricks brother
vadal- la ties
miller- family in br
hunter- good one
mills- no one wanted

hopefully we get kiel

Everybody needs to stop crying about all these rankings, Les knows who to recruit and not every 5 star pans out. How far removed are we from the "greatest recruiting class ever" at Florida? Texas is number 1 every year, how are they? LSU finishes top 7 every year, stop complaining. Mo Claiborne was a 2 or 3 star WR recruit coming out of high school, he's about to be a top 5 pick. Clearly our guys know what they're doing. Oh, and these so called amazing Bama classes have lost to LSU two straight times...a few weeks away from a 3rd straight.

No...it won't. It's absolutely unbelievable people are crying about Les' recruiting performance because we're not top 3 every year. Come the hell on, that's just unrealistic. If Kiel/Collins commit LSU will finish top 3 or 4 most likely, if we get neither of them this class will still be fine. Come on now.

Schooled?

Saban has no choice. Last year, they only signed 5 players from the state of alabama. The year before only nine. So far, only 8 commitments in-state. Don't act like he is so superior over Miles because Saban is forced to fill spots with OOS kids.

Either that or Saban is a terrible in-state recruter.

Somehow, I should have known that a thread created after great rumors than further validate Les Miles' success as a recruiter ... would turn into a thread about how Saban>Miles.

someone did the stats on TD a year or two ago.
There is a high correlation. its not dead on, but its close.
The #1 team in recruiting in the SEC west, averaged on rolling average over 4 years, finishes either 1st OR 2nd in the SEC west, and usually 1st over the past decade prior to the time we saw that post. That's it. So that makes Les and his staff better than Saban, at coaching them up, training them up, training the units, playcalling, and EVALUATING, (BETTER than SABAN).

its one of those, anyway. maybe he is better at evaluating.
maybe he just does a better job as a coach.
but the fact is, Saban is out-recruiting on paper, but Miles is out coaching and doing well enough at evaluating and recruiting.

Its just kinda odd that all these teams around us, and now OSU is pulling in recruits while we have only gotten one recruit in a long time. Being ranked #1 hasnt gotten us anyone. Seems like we are sleeping. We need to wake up in the next few weeks.

The people that are complaining about our class or saying it's not up to snuff don't follow recruiting very much or are stargazers. Our class is pretty damn good and about on par with what we usually do overall. This and every other class cannot be compared to last year where there were an inordinate amount of elite guys instate or the Russell Shepard class when we were coming off a national title or the Marcus Spears/Clayton class. Those were special classes and LSU doesn't have the "high profile" class every year. LA kids don't get the national headlines like other kids do.Never have and never will asiide from the rare cases like McKnight,Randle,Freak and Collins. Recruitings high profile teams are the same teams that get all the love during football season from ESPN and the national media. Bama has a great class this year and they usually do but our classes have been right on par with their's in terms of pure talent, speed and athleticism. Our 3* kids are better than some of their 5* kids. That is a testament to our staffs evaluation skills. We're in the top 5 on Rivals and close on the other sites(ESPN doesn't count, they suck).

RB-Bourque and Hill are both 4* kids that can play anywhere. Bama wanted Hill pretty bad last year and this year for those that like to compare us to Bama

WR-Avery is a stud talent but needs to get his head in the game. He compares athletically to almost any wr in the country. Dural is a very good wr with plenty of talent to work with.Bama also wanted him pretty badly before he commited. Holmes is not a highly recruited kid because he's very raw but athletically he is on par with most athletes in the country. Elite speed.

TE- John Thomas is a stud pure and simple. The fact that he's held his 4* status despite not playing at all this year is a testament to the talent he has. Great size, speed, athleticism combination on that kid. Gordon is a 4* on some sites and is more of a blocker but he's got better skills than he gets credit for.Fits what we want at TE from a run game standpoint

OL-Edinburgh has great size and lots of pure potential. A kid that could play anywhere when he fully develops. Alexander is one of the top G in the country.Great size and talent. Miller has great potential size with his length. Also moves very well but is raw. High ceiling kid. Ferguson is a long snapper. Underrated value on kids that can snap. I'm not a guy that thinks a LS should be a recruited scholarship kid but I'm not going to complain if the coaches like him. Hawkins has as much pure potential as any OL in the south. He is so raw right now that he is rated low(correctly). Great size and athleticism. Have to remember this kid has the feet and speed to play DE at a lot of schools. I have said it many times and will continue to, if he develops all that potential he has the talent to be a #1 pick type LT.

DE-Davis is the best pure speed rusher in the country. Fits our defense perfectly and will play a lot in his career. Think Rasco with more speed and athleticism. Not as developed skillwise but has a higher ceiling. He could of chosen to go anywhere in the country. Elite recruit. Hunter has great size, speed and athleticism. His rawness has him rated lower than his talent indicates. Another fast pass rusher off the edge. His hs coach also coached Von Miller and says that Hunter has that same potential and maybe more. I'll take that any day.

LB-Granier is a solid mlb that has injury issues. Solid depth guy with value on st. Feist has a ton of talent. Fast and agressive 4* almost across the board. Jones is a stud. Small but extremely fast and has good tackling skills. He is starting to get the love from recruiting sites. Already a 4* on 247,soon to be one on Rivals and Scout will bump him in their next rankings. He started as a 2* because he had no film out. It's starting to make the rounds now and he's flying up rankings. He is what typically happens to the typical LA kid by the recruiting services. No film or evaluation for most of the year but then flies up boards when film surfaces. Louis is one of the best athletes at LB in the country. He's a future star and a solid 4* across the board. Little short but thick and very good at whatever he chooses to do. He could be a 4* rb if he was evaluated as a pure rb.

CB-Raymond is like many LA kids, pure raw potential with great speed and athleticism. Out of football for 2 years and still got an offer in the spring.Has a ton of untapped potential much like Morris Claiborne when he came out. That seems to have worked out pretty well. Mills is more instinctive and solid than pure talent. Could end up at S but has the pure cover skills to play cb. I know some very good evaluators in Texas that have seen Desoto and they would take Mills over the Texas commit at cb Echols that also plays for Desoto. These guys are Longhorn fans and most of us know how those guys are when talking about their recruits. Thomas is the safest of the 3. He has good size and pure cover skills. Not a great athlet but good enough. 4* across the board and has some big time schools trying to snatch him.

S- Sandolph is raw but has solid size and athleticism. Good speed as well. Needs coaching but he has good potential. At worse a good st player.

You guys can complain all you want but the talent we have coming in can play with any other class in the country on the field. Would I love to have the nation fawning over our recruits,of course but they always fawn over Bama's and it seems to me that come Jan 9 we will be National Champs that has beaten Bama 3 straight times including 2 this year. I'll take our kids.Let Bama get the headlines,we'll take the championships.
