AKRON The University of Akron may have found a fit better than a native son to breathe life back into its football program. According to a source with knowledge of contract talks, Akron will hire Terry Bowden to be the Zips next football coach. Bowden, who is reviving his coaching career, may need the Zips as much as the Zips need him.

Wow. I wonder what the UNA fans think of this?

Who the hell are you? You sure do run your mouth a lot. You must be an expert on everything! It's nice to act that way on a message board where know one knows who you are!

1. And you are?
2. I'm sure North Alabama's seven fans will learn to love again.
3. WTF are you talking about anyway?
4. I'm not sure you understand message boards.

As someone who lives in the Shoals area and went to tUNA, I can say we are fricking thrilled.

He just signed a one year extension a month or so ago, half a million I think it was.

UNA is a better program than Terry Bowden is coach.

Although the restaurants in the area, specifically Rice Box, will be the hardest hit by Bowden's departure from Florence, AL.

I know exactly what they are for. It's obvious everyday I read some of the stuff posted on this board. Some people post good things and use it for talk with others. People like you get on here and act like they are experts on everything. Half the shite said on this board would never be said face to face with the people it is said about. So I guess for some (like you) it is a place to get on and make fun of things and people, because you are probably to much of pu$$ie to say half this shite to some one's face. It's a place where one (like you) can pretend their opinion actually means something. That is what I think this board is for! That is only for some on this board, most people who use this board, post sensible things and don't knock every thing they see on here!

I love when someone replies to a thread/post to tell everyone how much they don't care about the topic.

I care out Bowden to Akron just not the feelings of the UNA faithful.

I'm generally curious to see if Bowden can continue to revive his career. He is young enough to have one more move in him after this but he doesn't have much time to waste.

I would be shocked if he revives his career. He's not even in the top 2 coaches UNA has had in the last 20 years. He is a fat slob whose teams at UNA were poorly coached. I can't see him putting forth the effort required to recruit on a major level.

His teams at UNA would often have 100 yds or more in penalties and he received a lot of D1 talent that was gift wrapped for him at UNA via transfers. I don't know anything about Akron, but I can't imagine it is an easy place to recruit to.
I can't see him being able to assemble a staff worth 2 shits either.

Put it this way, UNA fans or casual followers (very casual) like myself, are glad to see him go.

WDE is a much more knowledgeable follower of UNA than I am, maybe he will weigh in on this thread.

Akron is not an easy place to win.

Who are the other two UNA coaches you referred too and where are they now? Just curious.

Hudspeth and Bobby Wallace. Bobby Wallace won multiple NCs (including 3 in a row). in the early to mid 90s at UNA and I'm sure you're familiar with Hudspeth. And that's just two off the top of my head.

I'm not a die hard fan of UNA but I do like to see them do well since I live and work within 5-10 mins of campus, graduated from UNA, and lived in general area most of my life.

This area (Florence & Muscle Shoals area) is a small town so its impossible not to at least be a little familar with UNA. But like I said, WDE knows a lot more about UNA than I do.

Well for some.reason I can't get the link to work from my phone. Just Google him for more info.

Season ticket holders have been emailing me all day ecstatic.

Hudspeth and Bobby Wallace were 10 times the coach Boweden ever was. Hudspeth is a hot up an comer at ULL and Bobby Wallace just recently retired after reviving West Alabama's fledgling football program.

Bowden had tons of talent at UNA. Far more talent than any team they played against and he underachieved. He doesn't commit to running the ball enough and his pass happy offense will let him down 2 to 3 times a game.

They have a pretty good following for a Div. 2 school. More than 7 UNA fans just on this board.

Bill Clark, formerly of Prattville HC fame and currently the DC at South Alabama is a name I'm hearing as in consideration to replace Bowden.

Kenny Edenfield, former UNA OC and current Troy OC is another name to watch out for.

Lastly, Will Hall, former UNA QB and Harlon Hill trophy winner and current West Alabama HC should get a look.
